New Grower Wiley's wishfull thinking. slow and steady

OK I have the following dresser there will be a picture below if I get that figured out. it is approx 16 in. deep 31 in. wide and 36 in tall. I was hoping to use the following lite set up
240W LED Grow Light 8 Band 3W Veg Flower LEDs Hydroponic Pro LED Grow Lamp Panel

the lite measures 400x212x60 mm which converts to approx 15.5 x 8 x 2 inches. It says it will cover the following


for all phases of plants growth and flowering
Suitable for Grow Tents, Greenhouse, Hydroponic systems,
Recommended height above plants: 12 to 24 inches
Coverage Area: 3 square feet (veg), 4 square feet (flower)
Suitable for :60*60cm grow tent.
will this work ? that's my question.
I plan on starting the box build this weekend if you guys give me the go ahead. I don't know if it is going to be tall enough (36 in.) I will build so I can start light lower and raise the light as plants grow should be able to raise lite almost flush with top. or deep enough (16 in.) but heck I see people growing in a pc cabinet for pete's sake. I also am not sure if this is the correct place to start this thread, it will lead to a finished grow one day though from a real start to finish LOL

I have a small dresser cab as well, maybe I can help you out a bit. Could you link us to the site for that led? Sounds like a blackstar knockoff. If your cab is only three feet tall that led might not be the right thing. Considering you take a foot off for the pots, a foot off for the light as it needs to be that far away so it doesn't bleach the plants, you're left with only one foot to grow in and that would be a hassle. I've found CFL or T5 lights are awesome for cabs. With the footprint in that one you could even run a 150 HPS.

How do you plan to ventilate and take care of the smell from the cab?

OH I only plan on doing one or two ladies at a time. And if you could suggest the easiest type to go with for a complete noob who has never grown anything in his 53 yrs of life. The most idiot proof lady there is. soil grow. here is the link

as far as venting. I think something along the lines of this.

putting the hole in the bottom corner sucking out and have a hole or 2 at the top on opposite side for the in coming air would that be correct ?

LOL I keep editing lol I am also going to watch Hazy do his scrog thing again. Can you scrog in a dresser like this ?

I've got a blackstar 240 and can say that they still do put out some heat, just not anywhere like HID heat.

L.A. is in the US can I get the Mi5 ? also I see that a lot of that report was from 2011 is that Mi6 out yet But maybe the 5 is still more dummy proof. Thanks for the replies and the help. I can't wait to get stuff in the dirt

By the way I took some more measurements I had to stay home with the wife today. If I use a pot similar to the one in the picture it is approx 9 in. tall and I tried a scrog thing approx 16 inches above that it only leave approx 12 in. to light. This cabinet might need to be taller huh.

Hey Willy much luck to ya. CFLs don't give off much heat, you should give those a look also.

I am going to turn an old entertainment center into a grow box close to that size.

I have one of these now, I am going to get another for 250 watts CFL.
Hard to beat the price. I've done two grows with one, and had good luck. Nice thing about those is that heat isn't a problem.

You are going to want to deal with smell. My house has stunk to high heaven for months.
I am not going to grow again until I get the new box built. It's going to have an exhaust fan with
a carbon filter.

Trust me on this, you are also going to want one.

Ok I guess this is just my brainstorming thread so far. But I promise (unlike a politician) that I will have a grow on here within a few weeks. and I have definitely decided to go with either t5 or cfl's If I go with these I think this dresser might be tall enough ? but is the 16 inches deep enough ?. Am I sweating the small stuff to much and not even a germ yet lmao. I think I am going to be a nervous wreck as a papa. Going saturday morning to get what I need to get cabinet built. So I ask one question should I work with this dresser or just build a 2x2x4 box ? YOU people on this site are so willing to share the trials and tribulations that you have experienced and the pictures speak for themselves I feel honored to be listening and taking advantage of them.
