I recently switched from a cfl to led in my starter tent but I think I had it too close at first?

Does it look like that was the case or is this something else? (Cold)

I raised the light and she has picked up but is it worth continuing with her or should I just pull her up and plant another seed?

Will she be stunted?

Have decided to keep her going (for now at least) and see how she goes.

Thank's for your input guy's! :crying:

Seems a bit slow round here?

light starting height and height its at now ? if its 1 day old its defo not stunted.but as we don't know how old it is we cant say.
keep it going.as the uk has recently got colder that's more likely.
whats the medium, cant see any perlite.
next time plant in the centre of the pot, looks much better:pighug:

i would say its the LED Bro,it more look like need more feed or its had to much,a bit more info and i am sure some one well repair, how much your feeding how old ph so on,but look hungry to me :pass:2015-19-8--22-09-43.png

And we're off! (with a little giggle) Thanks for looking in guy's

What I really wanted to know was if she will end up stunted amd whether I should even bother with her. I have plenty to be getting on with!

@archie gemmill Light height was not measured I am afraid, I simply used my own judgement.
Seem to have it spot on now with no further issues.

One day old?! This seed was planted on 11/11 and popped up 4 days later. She is a DP Blackberry Kush.

This is 'Jacks Magic" - a light all purpose mix (perlite free) I have been using for the last 3 year with great results.

Oh and its the angle of the pic, of course its in the middle! (Was trying to show the plant top as well as the label with strain name & pot date on) :greenthumb:

@KUDO I definitely think my led was too close was looking for confirmation I guess. This auto was planted straight into a 6L pot and has had a good wet & dry cycle. No need to give her anything but water at this early stage - is usually the 4 or 5 week mark when the soil is spent :peace:

I would guess it is the light, but it would depend on how strong and close it was. I keep my light about 6" above my seedlings, and 4" above my established plants. How powerful is the light in actual draw from the wall (or rated on the box if you don't know)? Is the light a full spectrum white led, or a red/blue fixture? From my understanding the red/blue lights will effect the growth patterns, and bleaching WAY more than white light. I use a white light, and can not confirm that personally.

I do agree it looks hungry, but highly doubt it is. I know you referenced the cold, but is the light putting a lot of heat directly on the plant? Is this a diy fixture or a manufactured fixture? If it could be the projected heat from the led, you could get a pc case fan, and wire it up to a phone charger. (assuming the charger is strong enough, which is should be) Take the fan, and hang it from the light so it blow the air directly across the led surface. Just enough to break the "pool" of warmer air. It does not take much flow to do so. I did something like this, and was able to get my plants ~2" closer.

Just for reference my light I am talking about is in a 143 square inch micro cab. it is a diy fixture with 4 vero 10. 2 @ 3000k, and 2 @ 3500k. Ran at 350ma. ~26.7v * .35a=9.345w *4= 37.38w total.

Till later bud. :smoking:

Edit: In regard to it being stunted, I would guess it is not being it is just a baby. If the roots where not affected by this, I don't see it being a major problem. However I have never grown that strain, or know much about it. Is there a chance some kind of fert got in the soil? The new growth looks to have some tip burn too.

@Fuggzy I have upgraded from a 200W dual spec. CFL to a Grow Northern 'ms006' 180W LED in my 60cm x 60cm x 120cm starter tent.

At a guess it is now hanging about 50-60cm away, but was about 20cm closer to begin with. (first LED I have used and I'm a "suck it & see" kind of person)

Temps are stable with a min of 22.2 & a max of 24.9, but it is real cold here atm and I wasn't able to flick my heat mat on for couple of nights so it dropped to about 17 or 18°C (with the light on 24/0!)

I guess it is a bit of both then!
The LED being a little too close to start out with caused the bleaching?
And the cold has made her leaf's a little pale, ?N lockout?

*edit I am confident nothing has been splashed or spilled.

So I had a look at the light from the manufactures site. http://www.grownorthern.com/holographic-series-1-led-grow-light.html
It appears to have a running power consumption of 70 watts. Judging from that and the size of your tent you should be getting ~17.5w per sq foot. (Sorry if that is off, I'm not very familiar with the metric system) At a guessing height of less than 20 inches (50cm) I don't think it is the light. It does state that it has IR led in it, but I doubt there is enough to make the plant go Rtarded. They boast a new cooling tech on their light, and 70 watts of thermal dissipation is pretty easy to cool, so heat shouldn't be a problem. I live in a tropical climate, so cold damage is something I've never seen on cannabis.

Have you taken a magnifier or a scope to it yet. See if it may be caused by pest? I personally don't have a lot of experience with "micro pest" but have read that they can basically do everything your plant seems to be going through. The main reason I am suggesting this now is in the last pic, the leaf pointing right, on top has a curl in it. A common growth deformity from broad mites. I found this on ICmag...
You cannot see broad mites without a scope. Don't wait to check for them. You don't want them to spread if it is BMs. Get a 100X scope to confirm, in case it's not PH related. If it's BMs, you will see eggs under the leaves, but only with a scope. Hopefully it's PH related, but you should have a scope in your arsenal anyway. A cheap one is only $10 @ Radio Shack or amazon. That leaf curl is typical of BMs.

I don't think what you are seeing is bleaching. It turns white to the best of my knowledge. Looks like this. (I like all my ladies in a shade of albino :haha:)

Sorry for turning coat on you, but after reading the light specs, I really don't think the light is the issue. You might want to ask grow northern if they have any advise, but I'd guess they would say it not the light too.

My only other guess would be the PH being out of wack, and not allowing the plant to uptake it nutes properly. It may just be a shit seed too. I may be way off on the last parts, but I'm rather comfy saying it is not the light now.

@Fuggzy wow thanks for taking time out to look that up bro! I would give reputation but I am not able to yet?

I have been growing under HID lamp's forever and this is the first LED I have ever used. I have almost no knowledge on LED's, still dont fully understand the tech and have a lot more reading to do!

I notice Grow Northern has a section on here so will have a good read through when I can.

Signs of cold are very similar to signs of hunger ime. and anything below 20°C is enough to do it I have learned.

I am familiar with mite damage and am fairly confident it is not them or pests (although I am definitely going to buy a scope) as this is the only plant affected. She was the first to go into this tent but she now has a bit of company and everything else in here and the other tents is ok.

The new growth looks ok to me? but I will be keeping a very close eye and will be back with more pics.

I am going to start a new journal for these bits too which should help us see what is going on.
