Day 55
Looks like something is "off" on the feeding.
Leaves are yellowing at the edges and tips are curling, like an elf's winklepicker.
It could be;
a) nute burn
b) pH off, causing deficiency/toxicity
c) all of the above
I'm erring on the side of c)
I can't undo yesterday's feed, but I can make every effort to correct with the next and future feedings.
So today they will receive a light foliar feed of first aid kit during lights out.
Think of a light misty night rain ...
I have recalibrated the BlueLab pH meter.
It
was off, and may have easily caused a pH issue.
pH doesn't need much inaccuracy to make a huge difference
MEMO TO: Self
RE: pH meter
Calibrate more often, you retard.
I might go for a couple of faux-flush, lighter feeds, with base nutes only at diluted strength.
It's actually VERY difficult to get the EC down.
Tap water here runs at pH 7.7 and 0.6 EC.
Using just a simple pH Down product to get the water to a usable 6.3 - 6.5 pH, raises the EC to around 1.8.
NB: ph 6.3 and 1.9 EC is
tap water + pH Down only; i.e.
ZERO nutrients.
Would be interesting to see what something like Advanced Nutrients Connoisseur Bloom A+B pH Perfect @ 1/4 strength would do to the EC.
Thing is, 1/4 strength would NOT be enough for the pH Perfect buffers to do their thing, to tap water @ 7.7 pH.
So the pH Down would absolutely be needed in addition to the Bloom nutes.
It then becomes a question of, why not just use the Advanced Nutrients pH Perfect base nutes, and nothing else, at a level that provides enough buffer strength to correct the initial 7.7pH.
So I might compare the EC of;
- tap water + pH Down, versus
- tap water + Advanced Nutrients Bloom A+B pH Perfect
I suspect [yet to be confirmed] that the "base nutes only" EC will still be around 2.2 or 2.3, which is a little higher than the desired "faux-flush".
Interesting times ahead.
