It is just those few leafs - they got damaged when I put the stakes in a couple of weeks ago when I had to take emergency action to remedy the legginess. But I will keep an eye out for any nutrient problems...
I wouldn't start feeding them flowering nutes just yet. If you do you'll loose out on a couple weeks of strong vertical growth and stunt your plants. What you're seeing now are only pre flowers. Full flowering won't start till vertical grows slows and stops, usually around week 6.
Thanks Muddy - your wise words are always appreciated. I will hold off on the feeding for a couple of weeks and let nature take her course with the little ladies.
Budding up now, around 6 weeks since the beans were sown.
This was never going to be a killer grow - just a journal of a first time CFL grower listening and responding to knowledgeable folks like Muddy.
I have been pleasantly surprised - who would have though that the leggy seedlings would have started blooming as well as this [I was expecting the runt to die].
It is around day 42 since I planted the 2 beans and here are pictures taken today. The leaves on the stronger plant have started to yellow and the runt is still growing vertically. All future watering will include some feed. The volvo pollen filter is working better than I expected but bear in mind that Auto Assassins were sown because they have a low smell profile.
Not much else to say other than your comments have been and will be listened to.
The girls have had another week so time for an update. There has been no more vertical growth this week and the runt is looking healthier than what was the stronger plant [the runt is on the left]. I have not followed Muddy's advice and balanced the PH levels but have banked his knowledge for my next grow - I know that they are not looking healthy!
I think it is a combination of possible PH stress and the box getting a bit warm and the ladies getting thirsty but am just a learner. But still - an interesting journey so far and it should be more rewarding than growing tomatoes!
I removed the cola from the stronger plant today and it has a wet weight of 175.5 grammes. I have smoked a few of the lower buds and cannot complain. The runt has a bigger cola but will need another week or so to get ripe.
I am thinking of changing the light cycle to 12 -12 to finish off the runt and use the box to dry the cola in - I have suspended the cola from the top of the cabinet. It is out of the light and I will not be doing much watering so it is in the best place I can think of now to dry.
I thought that the runt was closer to harvesting but she just keeps growing
This is the end of a CFL newbie grow - feminised auto assassins. There was a delay in getting the bulb and the seedlings nearly died but with help from Muddy and some other kind folks all has ended up well.
Lessons learned:
light insensitivity and day/night length are important
do not rush stuff
monitor moisture levels if you use small pots - you will have less than 48 hours to react
use commercial seedling soil and resist feeding
refine your method
and 'upgrade' from tinfoil to mylar [which I will do when this is finished}
I am expecting over 2 ounces after curing from the runt
