Greetings, AFN!
This will be my third attempt to document a grow on AFN. The previous attempts got trampled on by life. I make no guarantees on this grow either since my availability now is no indication of future availability.
Environment
The last environment I had had a very low WAF (Wife Approval Factor). It was in a part of the house she considered her gym whereas I considered it a hobby room. Apparently the occasional smell of weed can impact one's run on the treadmill. Who knew? Fortunately, she also recognizes my need for medicine and a hobby, so we negotiated a better solution. I would move my tent into a closet. Not only that, but I installed an exhaust fan in that closet that pulls the air through the attic, an air filter and out the roof. This effectively turns the closet into a lung room allowing for better configuration of the environment than before. The best part of all of this is how discrete it is. When the closet door is closed, there's no hint of a grow. No sounds or smells escape.
The tent is a 2x4 with 2 4" filters connected to a 4" fan in a push-pull configuration. The light is a MarsHydro (don't remember the model number).
Sour Stomper?
In terms of varieties I like to have on hand, I generally like to have a hybrid for a mellow evening or even an afternoon use. Sour Stomper has become one of my favorites simply because it fits in so many situations. It's mellow and doesn't trigger my anxiety. It also enhances my appetite which helps me to maintain my body weight. I would have preferred to grow Blackstrap since I won those seeds back in September, but alas, I was ghosted.
I've grown Sour Stomper once before and it produced quite well. I need it to produce well again because my environment is tiny and I need about a year's supply. I'm growing one plant in a 5 gallon cloth pot. The seeds were obtained last year. I grow in organic composting soil. The soil I'll be using for this grow is recycled from the last grow's soil amended with Nature's Living Soil. It started out as about 50% soil from the previous grow and 50%
Happy Frog with NLS amendment. After the last grow, I put all the dirt back in a container and I occastionally stirred it and added some moisture. It's darker and richer now that it's composted the rootball from the previous grow. The container had fungal blooms when I opened it up to add dirt to the bag. The bag has been sitting in the tent with the light on for about a week. It's been kept moist all along. The bag is sitting on an AC Infinity raised self-watering tray.
The seed was germinated using Nebula's method using a paper towel and a rooter. The seed produced a quarter inch tail within 36 hours of being moistened. The rooter was placed in the soil this morning along with a dab of DynoMyco.
