1st grow using space bucket, 2nd grow all in all

Hi guys,

So last summer I grew 2 autos on my windowsill and had pretty good results considering the summer weather wasn't as I hoped (typical British weather) however this year i have made a space bucket and will be germinating a seed soon, ive opted for blue cheese from Royal Queen Seeds. The reason I've opted for a space bucket is because I am very limited for space where I live and I am only growing for my own personal use, I vape my bud and only vape of a night time so aren't interested in copious amounts of weed.
The parts I have used for my space bucket are as follows..

  • 5x 20litre buckets
  • 2x 120mm AC Infinity s3 fans
  • 300w led mrhua grow light
  • 5630 SMD warm white led Strip lights (for side lighting during flower)
  • AC Infinity s4 4inch extractor fan
  • AC Infinity 4inch carbon filter
  • Duct tape
  • Diamond mylar (not really needed for white buckets)
  • Glue gun
To begin with I opened up my LED light and flipped the fan so as opposed to blowing downwards into the bucket it blows the air out the top, I then attached the light to the underside of the lid and cut holes for the switches, fan etc. I then placed one of my 120mm fans ontop of this to add as extra suction, I also added a 4inch flange ontop of my 120mm fan so that I can connect ducting, extractor fan and filter later on in the grow during flower. I installed my other 120mm fan into the bottom bucket where my plant pot will be situated i have the option of not running the fan and using it as a passive air intake or running it on either of the 3 speeds available to control temp and humidity if needed. I've sealed all gaps with a glue gun and am in the process of wrapping the rest of the outside with duct tape to avoid light leaking in or out of the bucket. The bottom bucket I have also lined with mylar, although I could have just left it white, it would have been easier to do this aswell but hey ho. I then cut my other 4 buckets down to use as spacers in order to be able to extend or reduce the light hight as needed throughout my grow. I have also drilled holes in the bottom bucket for any run off and used the bottom of a bucket i used as a spacer to make a drip tray out of. I will be adding a hygrometer at some point so that I can keep track on the temp and humidity levels within the grow bucket. I will also use a mid section of a cut down bucket to install my LED strips to allow me to slide inside the buckets for my required hight during flower to ensure the lower canopy is receiving some sort of light. Please let me know what you think, any tips/tricks or questions etc will be very much welcomed and appreciated.

Hey guys it's been a couple of weeks I've been busy with work etc. Basically had issues in week 7 but she seemed to of regained control in the middle of week 8. Not too sure exactly what was going on but I think it was a mixture of things such as low temps, no nutes in the soil after flush and me not feeding enough (look about online and realised biobizz should be fed with every watering) was a bit skeptical at 1st but she's been fed every watering for the past 2 weeks with no signs of nute burn and has seemed to recovered nicely. I've been defoliating every few days from the bottom up and any big leaves at the top blocking other bud sites that I am unable to tuck away. I'm really impressed of how she has turned out so far can't wait to finish this one now though. Moving into week 9 (day 55) tomorrow.

Right guys, I'm now at the beginning of week 10 and she is looking great! Very frosty and smells really fruity, almost like a very sweet sugar. I gave a friend a seedling of the same strain, same breeder (royal queen seeds) and his smells of cheese, its mad how different the 2 plants are, im guessing mine has more of the blueberry strain dominant however I'm not complaining as the smells is very potent regardless and nothing like ive ever smelt. Mine also looks alot more resinous than his. So I've started flushing her this week, she takes around 3litres of water every 2 days, im checking trichomes but still yet to see any amber ones so I'm prepared to flush for an extra week if I have to bringing the total grow to 11 weeks.

Not to much to report this week, coming to the end of week 10 now she's been getting 3litres of plain water every 2 days for the past week and will be getting chopped down on Monday when I'm home from work. Top inch or so of her main cola has suffered heat stress and looks abit plastic so that will be getting snipped off and binned, hopefully I can avoid this in the future by using some lst. I've bought a sock hanger and trimmed it down as it was to wide for the bucket then added some duct tape to the edges to make it a snug fit so I can slide it in and out of the bucket when I need to for drying my plant and any future plants. Overall I'm happy with how she's turned out considering this is my 1st run in the bucket and ran into some issues that I was able to rectify. Cant wait to cut her down now and try some other strains.

@Nelly Nugs hey I forgot to tag you but I'm coming to the end of my grow. Hope you like the blog. Tried to keep it as informative as possible.
Wow she's pretty let me know what she tastes like, I've only grown 1 royal Queen seeds strains b4 that was bubble kush and she was 1 of the tastiest bubblegum I've every tasted so I might give there blue cheese a bash if you say its good. Amazing grow for a bucket I would give you some points but I can't on blog for some reason.

Thanks man I appreciate it and I'll be sure to let you know how she does once dried and cured!

So I harvested and dried, she dried a little faster than I'd of liked (5days) but overall I'm happy. Buds aint as dense as i thought the would be but again I'm only using a cheapish LED so need to be realistic about the end results unless anyone would like to chime in with some other factors I could maybe try next time? I ended up yielding a total of 34grams dry bud. She isnt really that cheesy however I have tried a bowl of her in my volcano and got what I would describe as a fruit twist kind of taste at the back of my throat, very nice stoned effect too and I slept like a baby. I've now popped a Purple lemonade I'm from fastbuds which sprouted today so I'm looking forwards to see where this one goes as I'm hoping to try my hand at quadlining her. Overall for my 1st grow in a space bucket I'm happy as a few things went wrong that I was able to rectify but a whole lot more could of gone wrong but I didn't.
