Harvest Day

skywalker-og.jpg
Yesterday, was harvest day and after looking over the flowers, I decided it was time for them all to go. It's still tough to tell but when I'm seeing a good 50/50 amber trichs then I feel it's a good time, personally. Some of the flowers naturally mature sooner but in general, most of these autos were on the similar timeline (imo).

In comparison to my first auto grow, the yields are looking a lot better and should amount to a better average per-plant. I am also happy with the floraflex schedule and might include calmag next time because one plant was showing what I think was maybe a cal/mag deficiency but it didn't seem to affect the growth much, just some leaves showed a slight rust color.

The autopots with airdomes are starting to feel more consistent for me, too. The next grow, I'll do less transplanting and try to time the bloom nuts better. I don't think autos need as much v1/v2 schedules, so I might keep an eye on flower development to dictate when I switch over to bloom nutrients.

Anyhow, I hope these notes help you growers and thank you for reading.

Lookin' good. Hard to judge the best day to harvest but I think I'm doing mine now pretty much at the same stage as yours. I wanted to wait until more of the pistils were dried up and more leaves had died but I figured the trichomes turning amber trumped everything else. Also it seems the colas ripen a bit earlier at their bottoms than the tops. And the top branches appear to ripen a day or two before the branches right below. So I harvest the top when it looks ready and then continue checking and harvesting my way down. It's nice cuz trimming a whole plant in one day would be quite a chore. Plus it gives a chance for light to hit branches that have been shaded for weeks.
Good work!

Thanks, that's an interesting way to harvest by trimming branches as you go. I might try that next time, as I ended up doing one plant at a time and that was averaging about 45 minutes for each one.

I was pretty happy with how well the dry tent went this time around and I had the temp around 75 and the humidity at about 55 rH. Our climate is so dry, we often have it lower in the 30s for rH so keeping it at this level I found works well for me and the dry takes about 7-8 days.

I'll try and post a follow up about the harvest but on average I was seeing 2 ounces for each plant and I trimmed them right into Grove bags. I only had 5 of their 1 ounce bags, so I used the 1 lb bag for the rest and just folded it in half. I'm estimating around 10 ounces total which wasn't bad and the terps were fantastic too. :smoking: :d5:

That's one option on cutting it as you go after 50/50 but yeah, everything else you said looks good...but so does this guy's grow. :)
