hello boys and girls !
i make an order to a company that ofers free seeds and i pay only the shipping
BUT the seeds did not want to germinate at all !!
its now the 8th day in a moisted papper towel and directly in wet soil but nothing happens yet.
its not my first time that i plant a seed
but its my first that i cant make them to germinate
from 20 seeds 15 failed
only 5 remains to do something else to make them germinate
but how ??
the temprature is 18 to 25 celsius here.
any help?
thanks anyway.

try "gently" cracking the seeds open manually , but be very gentle , do not over do it or you will crush the embrio

i carefully crack them between my teeth stopping as soon as it gives way

if they werent hardened off enough you can take them out of the paper towel and sit them somewhere dry for a couple weeks then retry them , it doesnt always work but has for me in the past

peace

Put the seeds in distilled water in a dark warm place until they sink, usually about 24 hrs. Then place them directly in your final pot about one half inch deep in moist soil. Cover them with some plastic wrap and under your lights so the lights give off a little heat to keep them warm.Leave light on and they should pop in about two to four days.

one thing I like to try on stubborn seeds is to line the inside of a matchbox (any small box will do) with sand paper. then place the seeds inside and shake vigorously.

this should scuff the surface of the seeds and allow for better water penetration.

this wont help if the seeds are no good but its worth a try.

I second this advice. A very safe, simple, and effective method of scarification. Follow it up with the paper towel technique to filter out the non viable seeds. A drop of liquid seaweed extract diluted in the water would help as well, if you have any.

thank you all so much

TANSTAAFL... Sorry to hear about that, but sometimes you get what you pay for! I hope they will help you out enough to recover the shipping costs.
