Hi, I am abit curious,
If one uses 1 m2, for example a corner of a room, puts walls around that 1 m2
and places a 600w HPS lamp there,

how many plants could one fit in there with 3 gallon pots?

Cause I heard that the plant eats the lumen, so is limited how many you actually can put under 1 600w HPS, cause if you have too many plants the lumen will spread and none of them wil get enough, is that correct or wrong?

I have been thinking, and reading.

light: 600w HPS
pots: 5 gallon
plants: 10x autos.
cycle; 20/4 or 24/0.

is 10 overkill for a 600w hps?
and what could I expect from each plant?

I also read something about 100w = one plant, which would make 600w hps good for 6 plants.
but some people say they do 10-12 plants under one 600w hps.

im so confused.. I get the impression that less plants means more yield.

I like when the buds grow compact on one plant, cause i dont like to work with tiny popcorn buds.

If anyone has a thought of what would be the fair amount of plants one should put under a 600w hps please share with me.

back to reading.
il come back if i find anytthing new to share lol.

finally, the answer to my question is 12.

--------

Lumens per square foot:

Minimum amount of lighting needed is around 2000 lumens per square foot.
(Two - 23 watt CFL's, per square foot*)

Mid range is around 5000 lumens per square foot.
(Three - 23 watt CFL's, per square foot*)

Optimal is 7000-7500, or higher, lumens per square foot.
(Five - 23 watt CFL's, per square foot*)

Watts per square foot (wattage per sq ft WILL vary by light source):

Minimum wattage per sq ft.: 30w
Mid Range wattage per sq ft.: 50w
Optimal Range wattage per sq ft.: 50-80w

Hello Baron

Sorry I must have missed your earlier posts! 12 plants seems like quite a lot to put under 1m2. I get 2-3 autos (three is pushing it a bit) in a 60cm2 area. Any more and i'd be fighting with a jungle to water them and move them, and the canopy would be too thick for the light to pentrate.

In my opinion, you'd be better off giving them a bit of space each. I personally would put 4 under there - and try to spread out an even canopy ^_^

Just my thoughts - sorry it came a little late
