I had a message this morning from an individual on this site asking me how I made the reflector that I have in my grow box, and I wanted to share this with the community. What I use is a product called Reflectix. I bought a roll at the local Home Depot, even though I did not see it on their website. I did find that you can also purchase the exact same roll I buy at Amazon
Reflectix BP24010 Reflectix Insulation - Amazon.com
According to the labeling "Reflectix will reflect 97% of the radiant energy that strikes its surface". The material has a little more of a thickness to it, because it is kind of like having a sheet of bubblewrap sandwiched between two sheets of mylar.
I used this product to line the inside of my growbox, and it worked fantastic! I also used the silver/metallic tape for any seems.
Maybe more experienced growers will tell you not to use this for one reason or another, but so far I have found no cons to this product.
Best thing is that it is very easy to cut to size, and I can use my metallic tape, and tape it anywhere inside my growbox with great results. I am a new grower, but it only makes sense that you lose light in the corners of a square box....this product eliminates corners, just curve it around.
Also....included are pictures of how I am going to start my next seedling....I am just going to tape together a tube of reflectix...put the pots inside, cut a hole in one side to mount a small pc fan, and lower a cfl with reflector down into it....I imagine the light intensity will be amazing.
Anyways I hope some of you find this useful......and oh yeah...the best part....Reflectix only cost about 10$ for a 10' x 24" roll!
