2 false starts! Rapid Rooters shelf life?

..how deep do you sow them? Do you sow just after cracking and a few mm's of radical showing? In any case, with soil don't bother, it's literally pointless to use RR's then,... depending on your soil's richness, you can sow directly into it, or make a small pocket of mild soil at the center core and sow into that, a common practice! There is no advantage to using RR over good soil IMO,...

:nono: Space Brudda,-- nasty!-- were they nematodes, could you tell?

Hi Waira

Once they are showing a few mm of root, I sow them. Last run, I followed Eyes on Fire's advice of using a pencil to make sure the hole in the plug is a tad less than 1/2 inch deep. This soil is pretty rich- I can go 3-4 weeks without ferts.

Give this a read brother:

I'm not trying to talk you into staying with it or out of it, but I have literally germinated HUNDREDS, I mean HUNDREDS of seeds using rooter cubes and I can count on one hand how many didn't germinate and the basics of it is what came from @Ronin 's method. If you decide to give it one more go with it, give that a read and try following it. Call it the "cubes in a tupperware container" method if you want, but it's a proven method and might help improve your success rates when using them!

USE RAPID ROOTERS FOR CLONING, END OF STORY, MY PERCENTAGE CLOSE TO 95/PR.CT. P.S IKNOW CANT CLONE AUTOS , CLONE YOUR photos ,its all good..

used em once and threw em in the trash.they are OK but plants take forevor to get going.I never liked the paper towel method.I dont want to babysit sprouts and worry if the paper towel dries up.Probably ok if u wanna sit around watching a plate of paper towel.for hydro i use rockwool cubes.Everything will germinate in that stuff.i dont use the hole already in it cause its to big.I use a pencil and poke a small hole in the back.take the seed with tweezers and put in the hole pointy end down.use the tweezers to move a little material over the hole.Ive sprouted seeds straight from pods on seeded plants in rockwool.48 hrs seeds popped. If you look real close at a seed it has a flat part very small on the opposite end of the pointy end.You want that flat part sticking up.The tap will come out and instantly be pointing down.its a NO BS way of doing it.
For dirt i will take the soil and use a bait net and sift out the smaller dirt in a bucket.fill up either an air pot or peat pot with regular soil with about an inch of the sifted soil on top.ill plant the seeds same way as rockwool straight to the dirt.i have a little kids watering pot with all the holes covered but 1.ill water over the seed as to not to disturb the orientation.sometimes you need to pre moisten the soil a little.if you water over super dry dirt youll know why i say pre moisten.i like the peat pots cause i can fit them in a dome and cover them up.put some water in the dome close the lid and set it on top of a T5 hood.the warmth of the hood and the humidity will sprout the seeds in 24 hrs.after the seedling is a couple days old i moisten the peat pot set it in the big pot and fill dirt around it.moisten the dirt again.pull up the pot and it leaves a hole where the pot was.I use scissors and cut the pot up one side and peel the peat off.set it all in the hole and thats awrap.
I like the air pots cause you unscrew em and unwrap the whole thing.than place into bigger pots.I never let the tap root bottom out EVER unless i want stunted little plants.Once the tap root bottoms out it seems the plant will never hit full potential.i never get transplant shock this way and have re potted lots of autos. They dont even know they were replanted.

I use Root!i plugs and they never failed once yet.
I drop the seeds in a shot glass of water. Once they go to the bottom I place them in the pre soaked plug. The plug is soaked and squeezed off excess. I use I light mix of Roots explosion and water to soak the plugs. And set them in the propagator to germinate. A few days from popping I just put the plug straight into the pre watered pot.

A 4 strain grow. Second try.

No issue solution to germing seeds in rooter plug ....

Mix weak Clonex solution ... Soak plugs for a few minutes ... Shake off excess ... Sow seed ..

POOF ... PLANTS !

Thanks Dank. I wonder if I could do the same with Rapid Start?
