Indoor 2 in-line fans on the same extraction duct

I dont know if this would work, I'm looking to run my extraction 24/7. But don't want to run the in-line all the time if I was to use a timer when it turned one off it would turn the other one on?

Your fan pulls air through it when the impeller is spinning, when the impeller is not spinning in one fan it creates a an obstruction making it harder to push or pull air through with the other fan.

I am guessing you don't want to be having one fan running constantly in case it causes failure due to over use running at full pelt etc.

I use a thermostatic twin speed fan which runs on the lower setting and boosts its extraction speed if the temp goes above my set ideal temp for the most part my fan is on the low setting which doesn't strain the fan from constant high speed use. I have my fan running 24/7.

Alternatively you can use and over sized fan and use a fan speed controller to reduce the speed and strain on the fan.

Most fans have a thermal cut out if your fan should fail, I keep a spare fan just in case this ever happens.

Yeah u thought it might obstruct the air flow I have a great digital fan controller which I don't really like so been playing around with some ideas. Thanks

I wonder if something like using a couple of tee pieces to split out to two lines then back into one might work. Don't know enough about air pressure and flow to say if having the second line would cause some weird flow loop or loss when only one fan was running, though. Would take up a lot of space too, I'd imagine.

I think with a t and fans the fan will pull from the side with lease resentance so the side the other side with the fan I did think of that but drew a blank lol
