Outdoor 2013 Auto Outdoor Project

Hi to all, I'm new to the forum.

Currently I'm in my first grow of photosensitive feminised plants, by GHS(Widow, BigBang, ElNino and Himalaya) and just realized I want some good autos for next year.
The problem with my actual grow are high plants(2,5m+), which I hope will remain unnoticed.

I am a guerilla grower and want some big autos, strong and fast growers with big yield.

The strains I have put my eye on:

DP - Think Different, Auto Mazar
Flesh Seeds - Chaze, Annapurna
GHS - Sweet Mango
RoyalQueen - NL Auto

The plan for 2013 are two grows on the same spot, so plants must finish soon enough, which sort of cancels out the Flesh Seeds strains, I guess. Which is too bad, because I like the idea of planting some Chaze.

If you have any good strain in your mind, please share.

Additional info:

Spot has approx 7h of direct sunlight, facing south, climate is sort of mediterranian.
Soil is reddish and pretty dry, but i mixed it with Compo Bio Soil with added seabird guano. Some layers of hydrocristals are added in soil for current grow.

The plan for 2013 is to plant two rows(4+3) of same strain per cycle, however I'm considering making a dual strain cycle. Two cycles per whole season.

Holes will be 40-50cm deep and total area of soil is about 3m x 1,5m.
The mix will be more complex than this year's, adding some slow release nutes and root stimulant for better growth.

However, I'm still thinking about a possibility to do a scrog(2,5 x 1,2 m) with feminized(non auto) seeds. But that would require too much attention, I guess.


This year gave me some insight in cannabis growing, but I feel confident my plan can work out really well.
Planning to get at least a good pound of dry buds per cycle.

Sounds like you are off to an excellent start.

Thats an amazing Chaze grow, I can only hope(and try) mine would end just like that one. If I pick the Chaze.
The problem is the seed-to-harvest time, which is about 100 days, equal to more than 3 months. I'm planning doing two rounds, in which case, the Chaze would have to be only one and the other one for some faster auto strain.

I have a suitable climate from mid april till sometime in october, thats just around 5-6 good months.

Would it be better to plant the Chaze in the first(may-july) or the second(july-oct) cycle??

I'm thinking first(more sun, less humid), for second could do TD.

Also, how big are these plants(outdoors) anyway?

It might be hard to get two grows of Chaze done. I've not grow it but have grown Super Cali Haze, another super auto. It took longer than advertised, which is common as most seed banks understate the true growing times. It went almost 120 days. You could get a head start by starting them indoors about a month before your last frost date. Supers veg a bit longer than dwarfs, about 5 weeks compared to 3 for dwarfs. That would extend your season by a month. Super autos can get pretty big outdoors. I had the SCH in 10 gallon pots and some of them got to 6' tall.

Yeah, I guess two Chaze runs wouldn't end, but one should.

Still in doubt about outdoor size when straight in good soil. Most growers I read about use pots for their babies, which is kinda strange, but maybe they don't want them grow too big. Who knows.

The first weeks of veg under a light is an option, done that with my current grow and all went well. But a friend was worried because of possible stress to plants when put under sunlight. Lihgts were 18/6, but no problems.

I also read some interesting things, like "Stitch" said Chaze don't like being transplanted, may shock the plant and prolong vegetative phase.
In my case, every added day is definitely no good.

Then I read about the LowRyder genetics being kinda mold friendly, so I'm totaly avoiding it. Chaze seems to have none of it, which is just great.
Also Think Different is LR free, AFAIK.


Well, maybe now I'm thinking too much about it, but I'd like to get as many info and suggestions I can from you people here. Gotta buy seeds in max 2 months and arrange everything in time.

Would also like to get any advice on best soil mix for selected strains, closest to optimum.

I've grow outdoors both in the ground and in pots. I prefer pots. Give me a bit more control as far as my soil mix, feeding/watering, and the capability to move plants if need be. I start all my outdoor plants indoors. It gives them a much better chance of survival. Seedlings are more susceptible to attack from insects, pests, etc., than an established plant. I usually start mine in cut off juice containers which are big enough for about 4 weeks worth of growth, long enough for them to sex and develop at lest 5 leaf nodes. Then I start to harden them up before transplanting. Set them outdoors for a couple hours in a semi shaded location and keep increasing their time outdoors every day. After a few days they will become acclimated to outdoor conditions.

If transplanting is done correctly it should cause little stress to the plants. Key is not disturbing the roots. You can also use the tiered method. Start the plants in some 32 oz. or larger plastic of styrofoam cups. Cut the bottom out of one and take another and punch some drainage holes in the bottom place the one without the bottom inside the one with the holes and fill it with soil. Grow your seedlings in those and when it's time to transplant, simply remove the outer cup and "plant" the first cup about 2/3 deep in the soil. The roots will grow out the bottom and into the new soil.

i love to grow outside----i dig a hole in winter remove dirt to another location---lime bottom of hole then place black plastic in hole---cut a few slits in plastic and fill with promix--cover with leaves --wait till march and place germed seed into promix------promix should be already wet from rainwater--if not i put 20 gallons of unferted water --check and water every 2 weeks----if i get started late i just grow a few in buckets till ground is ready----these autos i tend to just grow in 5 gallon pots---inside or outside!!!

Well, thought about buying a CFL or rather a MH bulb for the first two weeks, but I have no adequate space to put them start vegging. Anyway, it'd be possible somehow, but this also means extra money, an unplanned investment.

I think the best option for early spring(mid april) would be building an improvised greenhouse, like made of old windows or nylon. Just for sprouts to make roots, put in some root growth stimulator and wait them to grow the third or fourth set of leaves(height 8-10"). Then transplant or leave them at the spot, removing the greenhouse for direct sunlight.
I'm not concerned about the mini-greenhouse being spotted, because it's a relatively safe place.

However, the pots wont work for me, I'll stick to my current setup, which is soil + hydrocrystals in layers for water retention. Works great so far!

I need to go see my grown babies this weekend, been absent for 2 weeks and expect to see full flowering action

I live a bad climate country so my experiences propably wont be relevant to you ! My Thinkdiffs and Amazars took 100 days plus and could have gone longer but i had mould problems. the autoblueberry is much quicker than those 2 if you want to get in your 1st cycle of quicker plants ?
I would set up a little cupboard with a few cfls even if its just for the 1st 2 weeks that would stretch your cycle a little further !
How are the GH photos doing ? Ive grown AMS and bigbang in the past and im using the himalays gold this year, i find they dont start flowering quick enough to finish im my climate, would be interesting to hear which one of yours has flowered the quickest ?
