hello

just started my second grow, and was thinking about this light cycle 24 on ,4 off and so on.After this light cycle you would benefit from 576 hours of light per month.By doing 24-0 ,the ammount of light received is 672 hours per month.Doing 20-4,is 560h/month.
18-6 is 504 h/month.

Alsoo...the dark period by doing 24-0 is 0 hours of darkness
18-6 is 42 h of darkness
20-4 is 28 h of darkness
24-4 is 24 h of darkness

It seems to me that there are a lot on up's and down's here

So,what do you think?

hehe :) that's 4 more hours than we typically get in a day!

But to answer your Question.

Autos CAN survive on 24 hours lighting. a true auto should live and die irrespective of light hours.

Most people like to give a dark period (for rest AND to save ellecy)

I do 20 on 4 off
Some do 18 /6

I think most prefer 20/4

All the best
Blue ^_^

I think (in my opinion) that you'd be better off trying the conventional lighting cycles first and understanding how 18/6, 20/4, and 24/0 affects the plants that you are growing. There is a reason they are tried and true.

I would consider 24/4 to be experimental lighting and probably not feasible (sounds like it would be a pain to program your timer for) and I really don't think you're going to see any gains that are going to be discernible versus conventional lighting schedules (WAY too many variables to be able to say "no I tried this once it works for all of them.")

What is your idea behind wanting to do this? I'm not sure I'm following your reason to want to maximize darkness hours or bridge gaps between the lighting schedules?

I think i've answered a different question to the one you asked

Hobbes read it right i think. I'm confused why you'd want so much darkness :) but hobbes will get to the bottom of it.

But in essence, the less light you give an auto ... the less your plant will grow.

I have been slowly increasing my lights on time as when the lights went off the temp would drop too much. Looks like in the winter I am going to have to use 22hours on 2 off and in summer 18hours on and 6 off. Not sure how this will affect yields.

I love blue :)
Oh and Im going 24 hours on... I dont like the dark

Well,I like them under 18/6.After the dark period there is growth,no doubt.they do need dark period.

There is no reason for this light schedule,i was stoned and over reacted....i would sure as hell give this a try,but maybe another time. Some people do 24/0,so basicaly there is no light schedule, there is just continuous light. So,why not take 24 hours as a light cycle.

Btw,my timer is not designed for 24 hours, but 7 days a week....so maybe this is another reason why i thouth it would be intereseting
