Welcome groff and thanks for stopping by. This grow is a learning experience for future grows and i think its nice that so many other true noobies will have a thread to read were there is no fancy smancy equipment, just plain soil and a light. As far as nutes, i plan to go out next week shopping. I really have no certain brand or anything I'm looking for. To be honest i have no clue were to start. Basically whatever you guys recommend i will be looking for. I know td are heavy feeders, but what do i feed them?:Stones slap:
Don't get me wrong! There is nothing more noble than popping a seed and seeing it through and through with as much love as you can provide it, no matter how ideal conditions are. A little preparation can go a looooong way. But too little can do the opposite.
I don't know anything simpler and also ideal to learn how to grow other than Biobizz. And its one of the best thing out there too, period! AND its 100% organics. AND its on the cheaper side... no brainer!
Either Biobizz Starter Pack (around 60 bucks, and an all round complete basic feeding setup), or if money soars just the absolute bare minimum for you right now is, I would say, is BioGrow, Biobloom and Advanced Nutrients Wet Betty.
Some might argue, Biogrow (vegetative phase feed) Biobloom (flowering feed) and Top Max (bud enhancer/fatner) - but I say ditch Top Max and get Wet Betty. I've only now started using it and it will NEVER NOT be in my arsenal. Its a surfacant, and it will be you best friend in making whatever feed you give penetrate the clay and get to places it would never do without it. With time, whatever you feed it is going to make a "cake" from your soil and possibly create channels... you may water with perfect nutes, but if it just pours down one side and leaves 80% of the pot dry... whats the point? With time, it get drier and drier, making more and more channels.... AN Wet Betty is god sent, and it will make your feeding water spread out nice and even.
You can get a very cheap and super bud enhancer at any good supermarket - look for unsulphered black strap molasses - and "oldschool mountain grower" tried and proven trick - Its essentially what most bud enhancers are based on - 2 or 3 buck that will last you years (depending on how many plants) - and these sugars are also good to feed the beneficial bacteria that thrive and help the roots - diluted like 2 to 4ml/L of water
Maybe next month or so, a cheap mycorrhiza (cheap powder with good mix of funguses). This will colonize the soil and help maintain healthy life. Also are root symbiotic! They also LOVE sugars. This will also help with nasties and diseases - but I never used such products. I know many are excellent and very cheap too... Trichoderma for instance, which a specific type of fungus - always remember that a plant is only as healthy as its root zone!
These kind of things are what companies that sell soil also put in their products. so dont thinks its anything feaky
Please do NOT go shopping asking for noob advice at the grow shop. They will look down on you, push you stuff you might not need and make you paranoid. You cannot go wrong with Biobizz unless you are really really careless, but I have to say soil quality is detrimental for a healthy grow. So gather some more opinions, view this as a fun filled challenge! It is very probable you will have issues, mostly nutritional, but fungus and pests are also in the menu. Fear not, everyone gets these despite the setup.
Strap yourself tight in this forum and let 'eerrr rip !! In the end it is much simpler that it might looks!
