Hiya guys and girls.

I wanna start a new grow in my barn.
Problem is the cold condition going on in there.
If a do a 24/0 light grow its no problem but i dont like the idea of my 2 400w lights and all fans not gettin any rest.

If i do a 20/4 light grow it will be to cold during dark hours.

How will the plants react if i go with an 5/1 - 5/1 - 5/1 - 5/1 light grow? If i do it like this temps will be ok, but will it fuck up my plants?

Love Justin

If by 5/1 you mean on for 5 off for 1 i wouldnt you might cause them to hermie Just do 20/4 or 18/6 make your lights off time for the warmest part of the day time or get a tubular heater to keep temps up... How cold are we talking?? so strains like colder lights off temps :peace: Si

I live in Sweden, right now we dont even have "a warmest time of day" lol.

We talking outside temp of +-0c to -20c, and not a hell of a lot warmer inside the barn. Dont have an heater and dont wanna buy one either, :)

From where do you get the hermie theory? No chance the plants just see these 1hour dark periods as cloudy time on a 24hours sunny time? lol

Any one ever tried this light cycle for autos?

Edit: Temps in F for u US guys.... from 32 to -4 i think...google it...lol

32 to 68 is too cold for weed.If you don;t use a heater it' a waste of time.

Yes, im mean 5 on 1 off and so on.

Why is that not a good idea? I like an answer to it if someone can give me one. Not just that it aint good :)

Why guys, why?

Justin

This is interesting and I'd like to see how they would react to a schedule like that.i grew outdoors last year in the uk and we had some proper grim days of heavy dark clouds all day,and very little light. Maybe 11-1-11-1 would be an option :bong:

I hear what you saying mate and the hermie theory is a 80% chance if you stress out an auto to much and that light cycle aint good But may i suggest run 22/2 or 23/4 that way you give your amps a rest because thats what your botherd about most.. Never heard of anyone doing a light cycle like that by all means go for it but do you realy wana risk stressing them out?? Hope you sort something out :peace: Si

Yeh we have great weather dont we Red lmao The only thing is when its cloudy its still Light it isnt in the dark dark cycle :2cents:

5 on an 1 off will just confuse the plant and it wont really save any electric.its just a light cycle that dosn;t happen in nature. Your working with temps that are not near the optimal temps for proper growth,so if you can;t get your temps in line the light cycle won't matter.

Have a look at this link mate to compare direct sunlight to a very dark overcast day http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lux it's a massive drop  when we had prolonged days like that,my plants just slowed up,very little water uptake and growth :smokebuds:
