Well, that make more sense than anything I've heard on the issue. The scale I would use is on the Fox Farm and Big Bloom charts. i.e. "for maximum,...1400 ppm.
I use a Sharp TDS WP T76 ppm meter calibrated at 1100 ppm. That all worked out great for me while using a flood table. However, upon switching to two 6 bucket systems, as described above, I've gotten what looks like a nitrogen problem. yellowing between leaves and purple stems, resulting in dry crumbling leaves.
Do I need more or less nitrogen?
For supplements, I use CaliMagic 1-0-0 and 1 drop "Superthrive per gallon of water.

Yellowing on leaving between vein on lower leaves = magnesium
Yellowing on leaving between vein on upper leaves = iron
both of these issues can be solved by adding supplemental cal-mag which has calcium magnesium and iron in it (at least the brands ive seen anyway, just double check yours)
let us know where on plant it's happening exactly, and also how much you're feeding with your CaliMagic

Yes, this is the brand. I use approximately, 1ml per liter (1 teaspoon per gallon) I run 20 to 25 gallons as constant as I can.
The leaves begin by showing some yellowing, followed by what appears to be a nutrient burn.
I switched from growing to flowering three days ago. I did a good flush and I'm at about 900 ppm.
I picked off all large leaves that were effected. Now, it's wait and see.
