Mephisto Genetics 6 Sour Cracks... Biotabs 1 vs 2 per pot.

That's what I hear others are doing as well, and it's to be expected. Hard to cover each and every finicky strain/pheno with one general purpose tab, just like when the same ingredients are put in a flask.....
Like you say if all it takes is adding some micro nutrients, permanently or every now and then, and no pH /EC to consider........Bob's ya uncle, or close enough.... Lol

Yeah Corgy, I have been experimenting with these Biotabs and grinding up one is a must with Coco. I will keep experimenting, Biotabs say it should only take 1-2 tabs for Autoflower strains. I am going to be using 3 total on my next plants in line. I already used one ground up and started the seeds in small black pots. I am going to wait for them to have a decent root system and transplant into AutoPots, with the Coco mixed with another ground up tab. Then another tab broken in half pushed 10cm into Coco for slower dissolve. I will attempt this with RO Water as directed, but will add Calmag if needed. Maybe using 3 Biotabs will decrease the need for Calmag. If not, Calmag it is!

What you say makes perfect sense

When you grind a tab, how do you do it and how finely?..... And then mix evenly into the coco or dust it in the planting hole?

In a 25 L Autopot, i was thinking 3 quartered tabs in 3 layers, and shamelessly nick @Chester tip to bury some broomsticks (PVC tubes in my case.... Lol) for easy insertion of tabby alimentation additional, going deep to app 10 cm above the bottom..... Dunno.... , bottom delivery of water, wicking, tabs, coco, best practise....

..... There's a learning curve lurking me thinks!

Yes mate, I'd say I'm on the curve right now!

Don't think you need to leave tubes in, the tabs are only inch or so across, should be able to insert easily by just pushing it down, I'm sure Mitch @mephisto does the same to his.

I use 100% Coco in the 2.2gal AutoPots. My best success so far with Biotabs and Coco is by simply breaking the Biotabs up by hand...They crush into a powder very easy. I was told by Biotabs to do so because tabs work slower in Coco. I also pushed one tab broken into 2 into the Coco. But my new experiment will involve transplanting, instead of directly planting into final pot. I want to see if transplanting will give the plants enough food to avoid any Calmag issues down the road. Worth a shot. I am not sure what medium you are using in the 25L pots, 3 tabs might not be enough. Organic soil and tabs work easier together than Coco. But I don't do soil, so I will figure out how to use them best in Coco. I am using AutoPots, gonna also try using Perlite mixed in a few plants in the future to see if they have same results. I never use Perlite, but wanna see if they wick more than straight Coco and turn out similar.

You are using Biotabs? Can you share what you are doing? I am also using their other products for starting and watering when needed. I just made some PK BOOSTER TEA a few min ago, going to let it bubble for 24-36 hours and feed a few plants as directed. This is the first time trying the tea. There is definitely a learning curve with Biotabs, especially with Coco and Cobs. I do not mind sacrificing space to dial them in. Having to not check pH, mix nutes, and feed daily is so nice. My plants look better and better, so I know I am on the right track.

Glad you're posting these experiments as I just stared with the autopot/biotab combo myself. I've pulled a few plants so far with a couple more finishing. I'm getting ready to move a couple of plants out of 1gal. pots into the system and wanted to try a crushed tab in the mix. Now I know that it's all good. I'd also like to see your cal/mag results. I foliar sprayed once in veg and once soon after the last time to compensate. Dropping it into a bottom feed every now and then would be easy peasy and a lot cleaner.

Very interesting grow mate and awesome results so far! You got a big ole sour crack girl in the middle there!

I also use cobs and am going to try biotabs for the first time with a new bean on monday.

I'll be nicking tips from you along the way! :d5:
