Live Stoner Chat 600 LED from seedling to harvest?

Still setting things up, spent hours yesterday running a 7 foot span of 6in duct from my closet, through crawlspace to an outside exit.

So I'm pretty set on the VIPARSPECTRA Reflector-Series 600W LED as it has bitching reviews, in the comments a few people said this has been good for this size tent. Also, it's a great price. My setup is a 3x3x6, 6inch 440cfm inline w/ carbon filter, 2-3 AK47 plants for first time grow. Thinking BioBizz w/ perlite in 3 gallon pots. Super excited and nervous!

Question is, should I roll with this from the time the seed hits the soil, sprouts all the way or start with a smaller light?

Also, how close should it be once it sprouts out of the surface, 24" ?

I'd start with that light and hold it at 30 inches until you get the hang of it. Actual hold will probably be 18-24 inches in flower.

The Viparspectra 600w actually only pulls around 275w. Don't know if you're aware of that, but it's very relevant info.

There are loads of reports on viparspectra lights and fake certification stickers.
I have absolutely no clue as to the validity of these claims, but if you google it it wont be hard to find.

The problem is that these claims apparently have never been formally denied. No doubt there are fake lights going around too, but even straight from the source there has never been a definite answer.

I have heard this, about the actual wattage but not about all the RoHS stuff as well. That's def. disconcerting... can you recommend a company to trust for LEDs? I've seen people use MARS and Viparspectra on these forums and I mean "they work"... it's my first time grow so I won't really be able to tell the difference between a good light and a bad light, a bad grow because of a bad light, etc. as well as others.

I guess that's why I plan to journal this process... but wanna make sure I buy the right stuff.

You know if you start with an inexpensive light, you can always upgrade at a later date. I don't really know anybody that stays with the exact same kit they start with.

The longer you wait the only thing that's going to happen is information will become more available and lights will get cheaper.

Yeah dude, economy of scale… My first light was a really really dodgy chinese "black star" knock-off back in 2012, that worked for about 2 grows before crapping out on me… Maaaan! How time flies and how technology just… daaaaamn … Even still, electricity savings alone was worth it.

Depends on your budget really. As I see it, on the budget, you can't deny some obvious choices, some of which are present in this very forum. Have a look at the index section. I don't want to name any so as not to sound like I'm favouring one over the other.

Be sure to go with someone who is active and responsive, and actually do their best to satisfy customers. The list of candidates just keeps growing!
There are lights for every budget. From simple cheap-but-no-nonsense "blurples", to super expensive lights with a smartphone app to control spectrum, to zero-nonsense highly efficient DIY COB's… Hit @BigSm0 a PM, I'm sure he can do good by you if you're in the US

But I would say that the most important thing would be to go with a company that is known for taking care of their customers. Be it warranty issues, problems, issues, questions or whatever.

In that regards, Viparspectra have a bad rep. BUT … dozens of great grows have been documented under them. And realistically, one good crops pays for the lights and then quite some… So think about your budget and and ROI, make a pro's and con's list, and just go for it !

You can't got wrong with any grow LED, really… any of them are miles away from HID

But, here in good 'ol AFN, where kind'a anal about LEDs

I have the 600w reflector as well as 600w hps. My Vipar works like a charm. It pulls 265-270 from the wall with both veg and bloom on. It drops to half that with just one switch on. I use the veg mode for seedlings and the first few weeks of veg. Then use both veg and bloom. I've had zero problems. Keep in mind that any diy lighy will also not have any RoHS or any other cert or guaranty/warranty. Every thing in life is a gamble. Hahaa! As long as it works for YOU!

Yeah man get what you can and grow now, you probably won't grow to the max ability of the light for a grow or two but you will get big frosty nugs from your choice in lights! I have seen several grows that blew me away, one review on here classed the viper as having a higher quality build than the mars reflector the reviewer also had in his tent.

I just got 2 Viparspectra ufo's.....I'm a bit worried after reading this....I checked and mine have rohs on them.......I'm a bit worried about the validity of this now though
