I am going to grow rrf for about a year. I plan on getting some dragon stock as well as some nirvana blue mystic very soon. (I found the blue mystic for dirt cheap)

I want to master one plant first and then branch out from there. It let's me benchmark my progress as a grower without genes being a variable.

thats a good idea. are you going to keep the same grow case? or any plants for a new tent/room?
your one is looking great and took really well to lst. i find my 3.3x3.3ft tent is too small though i couldnt go back down to cabinets let alone a case just for the amounts i need to grow for the off season. i was thinking of starting a bonsai mother out in a tiny stealth cab of some sort and then when i start up again just take some clones and have a bit of a head start. id just use one or two of the strip lights im using in the corner.

ive chosen to just buy a few different strains photo and auto, multiple strains on each grow.
before growing i havent bought any known strain other than some white widow once or twice. weed here is filth so i have no experience of what im after. just gonna grow a few different ones to get an idea of what afghan/kush/skunk are like etc. gonna grow some of them and some white widow with or after the dragons id say.
ive got some mama thai 100% sativa reg seeds aswell. might try a scrog and breed with that. itll take me ages though im only growing a third of the year id say maybe a little more. havent got an ideal situation for it so for now ive gotta be on and off. nice to have a rest from paranoia though. other than still having enough weed to get in quite a bit of trouble. much easier to hide though.

I had a 2x4 tent but that caused some drama so i cant go big until something changes policy wise around here both (household and government). I dont mind. I don't really need to be smoking as much as I truly wish I could grow anyways. It's hard enough to be moderate as it is for me. hehe

I actually was planning on going full photo after my rrf seed run. I even got some darkstars started and then after a drama llama i started another pair of clusterbombs. Those got tossed too lol.

Weed around here is fairly good quality. I would put it on par with anything i was able to get in manhattan and anything i have seen make its way here from cali. Now that I have been trying to grow for about a year now, When i pick up a sack i know what was mass grown and what was tenderly grown by someone in their home. big differences in taste and effect i'll tell you what! So, I have a fairly good idea of what is satisfying to me. You are going to have so much fun growing, smoking and experimenting with blends, hashes and what not!

i am keeping the genes constant but environment is going to change because my case is far from ideal 6 months out of the year temperature wise. H.E. said it my thread that i could squeeze 4 more bulbs into my current case but if i did temps would be uncontrollable at the top. I cant make it work with 4 40w bulbs right now. 4x23's are on the very limit. Luckily! I made those seeds last summer and they are acclimated to hot shitty weather. So I have that going for me right now at least. Anyways! I plan on making a very cool cabinet in the coming 2-3 months that will have all the wonderful trimmings a tent typically has but in half the space and with wood as a sound insulator.

I think the current case is going to become a seed starter for perpetual growing but we will have to see about that. One thing at a time.

I once made a bandpass speaker box out of particle board when i was in high school. I got to thinking about that when i saw some grow cabs made out of the stuff on here. then, i thought hey wait a minute. bandpass boxes basically are a fancy way of directing air around over more area to let subs draw a deeper "breath". They also have the added side effect of creating dark areas that never see the light of day even though the box has unsealed air channels in it. So, i am going to build a modified band pass design that will basically have a compartment up top for a centrifuge fan and a filter inside it. the fan will be connected to a hole in this compartment and be sealed for light proofing and optimum air flow. there will be a slot in the top for the filter to pull air through and thus circulate and filter the cab. The bottom will also have a smaller compartment so i can have a light proof intake as well. the whole setup will be less than 3 cubic feet total and will be less than 4 feet tall from the ground. Inside, i am going to be swapping CFL's for my mothballed 240blackstar. I will probably supplement with CFL's for side growth but we shall see what heat permits me to do. After I get that case up and running the true benchmarking will begin. In the mean time, I know I have made progress because my plant is actually flowering right now and not in a stunted depressed veg mode like last time at this point in the cycle.

that sucks about the lost photos but yeh atleast youre still going.

yeh ive been making hash each year, got some bubblebags and love it. again hash around here is a lump of plastic with a rock inside maybe some unmelted plastic throughout too and who knwos if theres even any weed in it. seems like most dont tell the difference between toxic fumes making you lightheaded and stoned/high.

this is last years hash run from three photo plants in the same tent.
got just over 14 grams still got a little of it left in my freezer. im trying to make a little collection.

ill keep an eye out for your new setup anyway. ive got alot of music equipment lying around myself ive always been tempted but never arsed.. if i see a cheapo second hand sub/bass cab i might try the same kind of thing myself. it would be a good spot for a small photo mom or two.. and would fit in in my house with all the other music crap lying around.

have you tried getting a bigger fan for the case? itd let you up the wattage a bit but maybe itd be like a wind tunnel in there..

mine wont be made out of a speaker box but you might be able to see some resemblances to them when i am finished building it from scratch.

I have thought abuot it but i dont have spots on it that will accept 120mm fans. so, i'd have to do some drilling and some cutting to make larger ports for the fans.

you make alot of hash man! holy shit those are nice sized pucks. do they always turn out so brown or do you intentionally go for brown hash by skipping smaller micron bags? have you ever considered making hash oils?

ill keep an eye out, make a build log thing if youre arsed would be handy for people. ah that sucks but with a tiny space like that theyll do good with even a little light anyway just seemed the next logical upgrade in my head. sounds like alot of hassle though.

ha yeh i was pretty happy with that batch my 3rd time i think. just trim from 3 photos.
i dont quite get you about the brownness, just that its not blonde or not green? its much lighter inside but one is black now from oxidation or whatever, that was made back in october i think.
first bubble i did i overmixed and it got really green and was it really bad but about a month later my first autos were done and made some nice stuff with them. i use all the bags but its only a 4 bag kit so i think its 125/75/25 and a work bag or whatever the standard ones are, they are away in a box somewhere at the moment.
i just mix by hand and do a few runs of the same material. i find it hard to overmix by hand so its great i just watch a show and stir buckets on and off for an hour or two, a quick run to start and then 2 more+to get the leftovers, i get about half of the batch before it untill a point where it starts to contain green leaf material around 3 or four runs. arms are fucked the next day but the hash helps me recover....
after that ive been using the leftover weed from the bags to make butter got a lot off that same batch im nearly finished a few pounds of it now :smoke: i love edibles. the butters still very potent and doesnt taste too bad atall.
i try and get every little bit out anyway.

the back left and right pucks are 2 plants trim combined. one is 75u the others 25u so thats split by the bags and the front one is the last plant it wasnt really that resinous but had crazy arm sized buds that got mouldy. the front puck is both bags combined just as there wasnt that much. then pressed all lightly with a t press. not really necessary but nice for storage and keeping track of how much ive had after a few wild weeks.

hoping to come somewhere close to that amount this time as the tents as full as it was then and the easyryders are super tric covered.
id say ill get a little less 10 grams and id be very happy anyway.

ive never made oil but i think this year im gonna try make some quickwash iso or something else if i read anything interesting in the meantime.
any recommendations?

quick wash seems the simplest theres a thread on here and the results look amazing.
i have some mouldy bud left from that last photo grow and was told its ok to make some oil/hash out of it with iso as it kills the bad bits to say it stupidly. not sure how true that is but i think ill use it anyway its that or the bin. even if i dont end up smoking it good to have some experience making it for some good weed.

i have read conflicting matters on the subject of mold. one thing that concerned me was that i was told is that spores are a smaller micron than the coffee filters that are used in quick wash to achieve a clear liquid with no large suspended solids in it. i was told these spores are what is also called mycotoxins which are responsible to the bad reactions in animals. be careful and do more research on that subject.

i did some quick wash with my last RRF since that cfl bulb and my drying technique ruined my harvest smoking wise. it was incredibly easy to do and much safer i feel to do on a budget than n-butane extraction. the latter requires the use of vacuums to remove the butane solvent. the former just takes a little heat to help the alchohol evaporate off. (both should be done in a well ventilated area. most folks will tell you to do butane extraction outside as it requires enough gas to eventually fill your whole damn house up with the shit and it will flash burn)

that thing about oxidizing was helpful. i had this lovely looking gold crystaline hash after i was done and after a day at room temp before i set it in the freezer, it was brown. so, that cant be avoided afterall. i am on the fence about trying Butane honey oil extraction myself but the science says it may be well worth it. good BHO can get well in the high ninetieth percentile for THC content! i dont know if qwiso is the same way. i am sure there is some water content in there as iso most folks will use typically has a water component to it for stability. (pure iso hydrates quickly anyways so they beat nature to the punch in the manufacturing process)

thanks for the info ill keep it in mind, yeh me too, dont worry im in no rush and its no real loss to me if i just toss it in the bin. just kept it incase and planned to do more reading than i have done to figure out if its worth doing/safe.
yeh ive seen some people vacuum purging looked interesting. some day ill buy the equipment and give it a shot i dont mind investing if its something ill use every year anyway same as lights/tent etc just way lower down on my mental list. iso seems much easier though yeh, i have a tiny garden i can do it in and not explode myself.

i made some ok green dragon tincture but it wasnt strong enough, i think i screwed up temps or times being overcareful.

the one that turned black is still super strong anyway so the oxidation doesnt seem to have reduced potency too much or anything. i wouldnt worry too much. do you decarboxilate your hash/trim? on another forum im on it is many peoples regular practice to oven the trim to make it more psychoactive or atleast more easily edible changing thcv to thc i think. it was said that thcv is water soluble so youd lose some of the un-converted chemicals in bubble etc. wouldnt matter for making butter but just curious if you know anything about that side of things.
im sleepily guessing though some stuff so please ignore any retardation :joint:

go for the butane honey oil, as the saying goes.. if in doubt, make some illegal concentrates.

im off this for the night anyway, im off working/traveling. back home tomorrow to tend to the ladies and snap more pictures as its the only thing that tides me over till theyre done.

I chopped my RRF last night, had a drought issue on the weekend and it was starting to look sickly. My pheno was the short mini version with way to much leaf to bud ratio. I'll likely have to make some oil or has with it. The plant mostly went to seed too and was a pain in the ass trimming because of all the leaf. Not sure what this stuff smokes like will give it a test before processing it. I'll be posting more pic's later tonight in my thread. Check it out if you get time.

ah you never know hold out hope for the golden pheno.
i had a mini mutant bush for one of my first rrfs, one branch had 3 leaves per node and a square stalk very strange. got very little off it but mostly my fault and taking early. theres some freaks in there alright.
maybe hell put out a revised one someday rrf 2.0.

ive never bred before so i dont know too much about the genetics side but im ordering some durrty/thunder dragon seeds and ill have a shot with them next time i can grow, ive had femmed seeds since my first order so thatll be something new anyway.

giving the rrf its last feed(probably) today took some pics. sunglasses in one for some sense of scale.

the foxtails are reaching right out.

ive brought all the plants up closer to the light and rearranged a bit as the tent is full with 3 in there.. 5 needs constant rearranging and moving to keep things even'ish

partial harvest RRF day 75

chopped off two buds on one side of the rrf to free up some space and have some samples. these were airy compared to the main cola but trics all cloudy with one or two amber.
just running out of weed too. ill leave the rest finish up anyway.

buds smell citrus and sweet.
