Lighting 90cri vs 80cri

Can't see pics as not a member of the total anarchy forum lol. I would say this test is very flawed compared to the original comparison. Too flawed to be of value. The lights on the left WERE a foot higher for sure. How long for? No divider like you mention. Etc etc.

He said the lights were higher on the left for the initial start up because they were getting bleached but now they are even for the flowering stage. Makes yea wonder if bleaching has anything to do with it being stronger, powerful or whatever than the 80cri? If that's the case then 90cri is definitely the way to go. If it was bleaching instead of raising the lights i wonder if he could have turned the wattage down. This sucks, I just bought 6 cxb3590 80cri. Its a good thing you saw that, I totally missed it.:nono:

I don't think you will be disappointed at all mate!

I am already disappointed, I bought the 80 cri version :cuss:, However Ive just started using cobs and have been super impressed with the outcome. This guy just posted some more photos of his side by side grow and he still has the 80cri cobs lower than the 90cri even though he said they are even? However its not lower by much. In the photos it looks just a few inches lower, however I know that is a lot when it comes to indoor lighting. Need more test...

btw here is one of his latest photos, The second photo is from a different perspective. Looks even in that photo

Ive been watching this one as well, but my big beef with it is not dividing the rooms better..

Lets not get to crazy here gents, and mabe ladies, 80cri is still great.. And cobs are still a superior lighting method in any cri, imo...

Even if yields are identical, i personally was swayed by the quick growth of the 90s, in the divided grow.. Which to me was/is a better side by side comparison..

I only switched out 4 of my 16 chips for 90s.. I dont think the results are any reason for a complete overhaul of anyones systems, but if your just starting out i would go 3000/90 all the way..

Glad to see more people involved in this discussion..
Cheers

My 1216 CRi90 arrived yesterday, time to build a frame,
The people didnt have 4x2, so they sent me a 4x4 tent.
got 8 cobs to go in there
4 1212 and 4 1216 with 2 185-1400b drivers
will probably go 3-2-3
Thanks for pointing me to the 1216's

do you have an heat problems with 8 cobs inside??

Literally just got them up and running like 20minutes ago, and I will get back to you, I did notice at first some heat, so yeah I am pretty sure it will raise the temps a bit, but if you can get a fan blowing over the cobs I rate you should be golden

I have 2 diy with cpu fans .. one is with mixed heatsinks, other diy has alpine cool 64 cpu fans with their own/stock heatsinks..my tent temp (3,3x3,3) is at least 3-4c+ than room temp..

definitely a raise in temp, will get my fans up and running in the morning,

So final results and weights came in..

90cri was finished 3 weeks earlier .
80cri had 33.9g more.

The Dawg, who is the guy that did this, is starting another comparison only this time with exactly the same conditions . He was stating that he defoliated the 90cri at some point and not the 80.. So next run will be completely identical side to side.. This was a great experiment, and shows that 80s and 90s seem to have there own benefits and drawbacks.. A blend of the two seems to be the best option now... We wont know forsure until we have more data.. Hopefully he starts the next match soon..
Cheers

I really don't understand idea of mixing COBs... Take 1212 for example, each COB has coverage max. 30x30cm. In a 1,2x1,2m tent that's only 25% coverage.
Yea, light bouncing off the walls... but PPF is still PPF and it's waaaay lower if light is bouncing at distance instead of falling on canopy.
