I switched to using a shaving brush, soap ,and double edge razor this last fall. I had been using various brands of disposable razors.
I really enjoy shaving now since I have to slow down and be careful (I learned the hard way). No more 10 second shaves with shaving gel and a disposable.
I remember my dad using this method.
The smell of a good shaving soap, using a nice chrome razor, and a good aftershave gives me peace and contentment.
I'm not yet ready to try a straight razor.
What do you shave with?

I use a double edged razor like you do but I use regular shaving cream, I started using the double edged razor last fall also, disposables give me ingrown hairs and the fancy one are too expensive! And the test I did the oldschool works just as well.

Nothing beats a straight razor shave. When I was active service I would shave 3 mornings and Saturday night instead of everyday with those mach 4 razors. My method that I still use today is a hand towel soaked in hot water n I then wrap my face for a few min in hot towel then apply cream n wipe off then I use a "cut throat blade" disposable straight blades and go with the grain and may have to use a regular razor around neck as I nick my self from time to time still ;)

I'm pretty satisfied with the Gilette Fusion power, the vibrating one lol. For cream I like the Nivea line, usually the "sensitive skin" one, even though I don't have sensitive skin, it somehow feels better. Also like the Nivea aftershave.

No stubble!
Wax it, thread it, pluck it, or grow it out!

I grab my hair trimmer and just rub it all over my head, shaving beard and hair all at once. Lazymans approach, and not a close shave, but it does the job and does it fast;)
If i ever get back into shaving proper, ill get an old skool straight barbers blade:)

Soap and boar bristle brush with a Harry's razor. Regular days with the grain for special days against the grain after a with the grain shave and a good soak.

i gone off shaving foams, gels etc.i now use shaving oils such as somersets or king of shaves.

:slaps:
