just bought a light mover. I am running 1000 watt MH in a preditor fixture ( big sucker ) mounted to a light mover that runs along a 3 foot rail, about a foot in each direction from center so about 2 and a half feet total. the fixture is not cooled and the glass has been removed. ambiant heat is not an issue, but I am concerned with radiant heat to the plants. right now the bulb is about 18 inchs from the tops of the plants and I am waiting for some indication of heat stress to the top leaves. when this happens I will raise the light a few inchs, take a measurement to the bulb and that's were I will runn it. the hand test seems ok so far but also I am thinking I can get real close since the light is moving and wont be directly above the plants for more the maybe a minute or less. I do have an ossilating fan that blows across the tops and into the fixture that helps keep the plants and fixture cool. basically I am letting the plants grow into the light till there is an issue. I have also read about ppl having issues with stunting and basically the plant shying away from the light but not sure if I should worry about this since the light is moving. has anyone else ran 1k on a light mover?
