About to kill plant with pH fFluctuation, please help!

Hi guys,

I've manage to almost kill a perfectly healthy plant, as a result of my error. I have using ph Down with a faulty ph meter, it was reading about 8.0 pH in the water and I added way too much ph Down (over 50ml in one liter, maybe more) until it showed 7.0. Thing is, the water probably was at about 7.0 to begin with, and I might have dropped under 5.0!) I have now tested the ph meter and it seems it has broken, but due to lack of experience I didn't notice.

This morning I woke up to this:



I've since found the problem, and I flushed it with 3L of ph neutral water.

What else can I do? Should I cut the branches of the dying leaves? It looks worse every minute...

A flush is always good bro.

But most important... get a new solid ph-meter AND learn from this mistake.

All the mistakes we do is really what makes us better.

edit: I always knew what my tap waters ph was, give and take a few points so if something was looking fishy I could always messaure my tap water to see if my ph pen was alright or not, and ALWAYS have some 4.0 and 7.0 callibrate fluids at home.

Flush it some more. 3 liters (3 L = 0.793 gal) isn't near enough. You want to run at least 3 times the pot size. So if it's a 11 liter (11 L = 2.91 gal) pot, you need to run 33 liters (33 L = 8.72 gal) through it. No guarantee it's going to survive but that's about all you can do unless you're willing to transplant it into fresh soil. Don't remove any branches or leaves. In the end some of the leaves may die off but don't remove them yet.

Also, your pH meter could be broken or possibly just out of calibration. Have you tried to calibrate it?

I believe the ph meter is broken. It was gifted to me as working, it seemed to work in the calibration solution, and I used it twice successfully, but since yesterday it just goes in the ph 7-8 region no mater where I put it (even in calibration fluid). The amount of low ph water was not so much (about 1 L) so I'll do another flush today and hope for the best.

It was NOT stupid, it was a learning mistake buddy. I can write you a whole fucking book about all the mistakes I have made and I am very much NOT stupid. lol

Dont beat yourself up about this, and I dont think youll ever do the same mistake again. So lesson learned

oh yeah man,aint stupid.a simple mistake many of us have made to some degree or another.i literally fried a full on Photo beauty cuz my awesome 5 dollar box O plastic said it needed to be done LMFAO!! Well I meant that the act of adding ph Down over and over and over again and failing to notice that my tap water couldn't have turned more basic than lime all of a sudden, was a bit dumb.

But as you say, lesson learned! Don't worry I am keen to see through this grow and I am already researching for my next one, documenting my mistakes etc in my journal. I am still feeling sad because this plant was one of my "good" ones. Let's see if she recovers!

oh yeah i hear ya man.lol its just when your under the guise that the equipment your using is on and it turns out its all hosed by no fault on your own you relied on anothers words and untill you test it and calibrate it yourself ya never know is all.as ya know know.even if it was working,shipping sometimes knocks bulbs sideways and all kinds of things can happen.that why I went organic with a working recipe.nooo issues now LOL! I soo feel ya man,seriously.been there done that whole dance.i hated it personally.Best of luck brother!!
