Indoor About to start my first PROPER grow.

Hey all, Im from little old New Zealand. In a months time I will be starting my first proper grow using some Auto seeds (5 seeds). At the moment I'm looking for my light source, was looking at either 600w LED light, good quality (leave on 24/0) or 400w hps (leave on 18/6).

Which one would be best?

ALOT depends on lighting source, what size will the grow area be? I have a 4x4 tent that I have a 400watt hid and a blackstar 240watt going in there... Also a noob here as well and waiting for my beans to come to me.. Ordered on 10-7 and says: We have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece.
Though the UK mail says handed over to USPS... Figure it's stuck in customs!
So anyway back to your light question, I would take the sq footage of your grow area and divide that by how many watts your going to use... From my limited understanding between 40-50 watt per sq ft seems the sweet spot! More light is always better... I say go for a 600watt hid and some cfl's

Yeah tent size is 1200mmx1200mmx2000mm, which is close to the same size as yours. My only concern with HPS lights is how hot they get and the fact they can start fires..... Good luck with customs dude. Thanks for ya help to brother!

Wad supper worried myself on heat issues so got an air cooled hood... Going to try and duct the hot air hot... Will run light awhile and monitor temps before I let her run on her own... So SCARED of a fire hence I'm hoping my plan works...yea are tents bout the same size... Thoughts people? Fire hazard?

It all boils down to quality components and good airflow mate...
whats your airflow?

what type of HPS did you get? I reccomend a digital ballast.

Do have a digital ballast and have a 6" duct booster fan rated at 240...

Good luck on ur first grow once u get a few successful grows its all down hill so to speak ; ) u start to get hang of things and learn to read the plants they sure tell u wat they like and dont like

no worries man ur beans r right on time the dispatch msg means they r in the country ur in or just about there it does take sum time when ordering from UK if they get snagged by customs u will receive a letter thats all not really big deal and gd luck on ur grom
