New Grower Acronym Glossary.

Hi AFNers,

as a newbie I am getting to grips with the overwhelming number of acronyms that are commonly used in the many areas of plant production. So far I have got to know my LED's from my CFL's and SCOG's from SOG's etc. But when it comes to more obscure TLA's in areas such as pH and soil types and ferts, it can still be very confusing.
Can anyone point me to a glossary of the commonly used acronyms please? I am sure it would make a great sticky and reference point for many of us. We could make our own if one is not available.

Hi romeo. I am meaning Grow lingo. Here is a sticky that means nothing to me because of the acronyms.

"Please post your current recipe (if you use one). This will be stickied if there are any contributions. I currently have L3V3R's, DIRT's, and subcool's saved for my personal use, but would prefer to get permission before I post them."

As a newbie I don't know what is a "L3V3R's" a "DIRT's" or a "subcool's" is ? ? ? This is just an example, there are many more....

There is too much lingo that is used as assumed knowledge. That is fine if we newbies can reference the acronyms. But if not, it is meaningless to us unless we trawl a lot of threads until we , hopefully, find an explanation. This is not a criticism of the forums, but the "old hands" probably forget us newbies are not as up to speed as them.

As for t'internet and txt lingo, well, that's up to all of us to figure out.

Lever & Dirt are members of AFN mate,subcool is a breeder & his beans are available at seed banks.he also champions the use of super soil,or TLO ( true living organics) soil. Lever & Dirt have posted there tlo soil mixes..its a good idea to get a list in this thread like you say of all the acronyms bud :smokebuds:

pH = power of hydrogen
DWC = Direct Water Culture
TDS = Total Dissolved Solids
EC = Electrical Conductivity
ORP = Oxidation Reduction Potential
LED = light emitting diode
LASER = light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation
SCUBA = self contained underwater breathing apparatus
