Hey guys, i read somewhere about changing from veg to bloom nutes early to limit plant size and shorten grow time, i couldnt find much info about it though. Do any of yea use this technique or have any links? Im sure that this would lower my yeild a bit but given my limited grow space and the fact that im using cfls, i think that the pros would outwei.gh the cons.
Thanks.
Df.

you are only causeing the plant to be N deficient when do this , its not something id recommend , but its entirely up to you , id just use small pots if i wanted small plants

peace

edit, dont confuse earlier finish with pre-mature death , they can look similar but truely they arent

Thanks rr, this is what i was looking for, if anyone has any experienve with this id like to hear about, cheers.

Sorry BB, I didnt see your comment before posting, I get what you're saying about causing deficiencies in the plant rather than actually inducing flowering, I guess I'll have to look into lst a bit more,
Thanks for the help,

I'd follow Bobs advice on this one

I have a habit of doing the same thing and always see way more deficiencies then i should and no matter how hard i try i can never get them in check again once shes in full flower lol

Older thread but...never take anything you read on various forums too seriously! I was a victim of bad advice time and again regarding things like this, experience taught me well.

But yeah bob is correct in that the best way to keep your plants small, is to use small pots - also the taller the pot, the taller the plant from my experience. You "can" feed bloom nutrients early - just keep it light and make sure you're giving it a normal dosage of grow nutes throughout.

I realized the best way to keep my plants from yellowing out early in flowering is to keep adding my normal dosage of grow nutes throughout its life cycle. Then again I grow organic (Earthjuice) and it's easy to throw in 5 ML of everything throughout and not worry about it any longer (plants are healthy and green and tall now)...of course adding a Bloom Booster late in flowering is necessary for small grows, IMO, if you want to maximize your yield, especially with organic nutrient lines.

This is just my opinion as I haven't got much experience growing... out of 2 grows I have on them both started bloom nutes early... 3 weeks into growth. both times the flowers were started. And both times the plants kept stretching. The first time I was using just bat guano one for vegging the other for blooming. I had some bad deficiency problems. My second grow I used GH novaflor from 3 weeks in... for the first three weeks I just used TO water, but I did add some vegging bat guano to the soil. so far 6 weeks in no real sign of deficiencies.
This site has some great information but I also think there are so many different variables that experience and trial and error sometimes have to be added to the mix.
I am happy to get something smokable now... next time maybe I can get a bit of a bumper crop!

You are totally correct about experience being the best teacher. There are certain things that are standard for growing and are basically accepted by most growers but I give the best answer I can from my growing experience and also gaining knowledge from others and reading as much info I can and use this to help others.Growing weed is a nonstop learning experience no matter how long you have been growing.
