Good stuff. Definitely adding a ph meter to my shopping list. When you say you had too many nutes in your starting soil...did you add them? Starting soil is supposed to have the right ammt of nutes for a seedling isn't it?

My very first grow I used Miracle Grow perlite as well as a more 'standard' nursery soil that had nutes in it. I started my seeds in there and just never got it straightened out, couldn't really. Starter soil is basically plain, little to no nutes at all. The seed itself contains what it needs to get started, then when the solar panels(first leaves) come out then proper ph'd water and light make it's energy for the next 2-3 weeks.
