Hey everyone, trying to get some constructive feedback on some things to help improve the site and decided to skip the fluffy flower smelling questions and move right into the ball busters!

1. What is the number one thing you absolutely HATE about AFN? What sucks about this place?

2. Do you like the new site upgrade? What DON'T you like about it? Be specific.

3. Is it easy to find your way around the site? Can you find what you're looking for?

4. Do you feel like you are getting the help that you need?

5. What's the first thing you would change (if you could) to make the site more enjoyable?

Glad you bring this up, I have some complaints of course)) The new layout is far less appealing to me compared to the old one which was almost perfect.

1. The posting date is on the bottom and should be on top of the post!
2. No, way too much shiny stuff, user options are hard to find, media is a poor concept imho and so on...
3. Not easy, it's a nightmare. Topics are too shuffled to make any sense
4. I usually don't ask for help, but I'm sure if I did, I'd get good help. Cheers @AFNstaff!
5. Bring back the old AFN with all my erased topics and likes

Rant is over, I had to express my complaints somewhere and this seems to be the perfect place.
To be honest, since the makeover I don't visit AFN so much anymore, got some important threads deleted, lost a lot of "likes" and pictures...and I still don't like the visual part.

Anyway thanks for trying the new stuff, it just doesn't work for me.

I don't know if I can't find it if I don't know it's there, right? So I'm cool.

Hi Son Of Hobbes thanks for posting this thread i really think its needed.

1. What is the number one thing you absolutely HATE about AFN? What sucks about this place?

There is no sorting option for you subbed or watched threads. Now when you locate a thread you are subbed to you have to go through every other watched thread to get to it. Bring back the option to sort out the threads into folders of your choice, this will make it a lot more organised and user friendly.

2. Do you like the new site upgrade? What DON'T you like about it? Be specific.

I do like the new site as its faster and better looking but I have to agree with Balarma on this one.
The posting date is on the bottom and should be on top of the post , media is a poor concept.
I also do not like how small the recently posts widget is on the right hand site of the site, on the old site it was much bigger and it was always available to be viewed no matter what page you were on.

3. Is it easy to find your way around the site? Can you find what you're looking for?

I find the site easy enough to use but as mentioned above i have a problem finding recent journals as the widget for recent posts is so small. I am aware of the new posts tab at the top of the page but sometimes thats just too much to be looking at and its very messy.

4. Do you feel like you are getting the help that you need?

AFN is always the best place for help in my opinion.

5. What's the first thing you would change (if you could) to make the site more enjoyable?
Watched Thread sorting option.

This place is awesome. I was new on the old site so I wasn't really used to it anyway. I'm still not used to the new site but I'm technically challenged so not anyone's fault but my own. Help is always readily available. The sorting of new threads watched threads could be easier but it works. There's so much info on this site it would probably be near impossible to sort it the way one would want anyways. All in all the site the staff the users the whole concept gets 10*'s in my book.

I don't think it "needs" anything, most of the differences that are liked or not liked come down to personal preference but a global music page to paste the great sounds you folks find, that would stay active as pages are changed, would be convenient. I miss a lot of rocking by clicking away from the page that holds an embedded song or album.
With my old clunker, leaving pages open in the background slows her down.
Radio AFN would work too.

Nothing to hate.

Yes. Nothing I 'don't' like.

3. Is it easy to find your way around the site? Can you find what you're looking for?

Overall, yes. The only thing I would recommend is putting all the grow journals in one place. We currently have Section 2- Autoflower Growing with Indoor /New Growers / and Outdoor but the LED growers are under Section 4- Autoflower Lighting. Nothing major....just a thought.

4. Do you feel like you are getting the help that you need?

Yes. The staff and members are a tremendous help!

5. What's the first thing you would change (if you could) to make the site more enjoyable?

I can't think of anything I'd change..... Great site and thanks for all you do!

Everything and body is great however the layout is not. More to the point journals.

There are two many sections and to many places to start journals. So maybe clean up the sections so that they can be used to communicate techniques in that topic field but as for journals they should all be in the same location. This will help everyone out and not alienate others. For example I started with soil and switched to coco there are all kinds of different folks in both sections.

As a new guy journals is what its all about. You can really get a feel of how to grow with that technique. you shouldn't have to read thru thousands of threads to find one that meets your fancy only to find out they didn't complete it. You can cut that out by having a Journal section.

There should be a Completed, ongoing, and incomplete section for journals. And all journals go in them. I think there should be some templates you must complete also.

1. The title. Although some of you have some real creative titles They would be better suited to explain what the grow is. This would help in searching and browsing. For example. " Experienced grower, Coco, Leds, Indoor, Mephisto.

2. The setup. Have a template that forces you to put all the pertinent info in from tools to soil brand. And then have at it.

I would not want to ruin anybodies fun I know you start a journal in certain sections to get the badge But maybe the title is your tag words that enables you to get said badge.

Competitions. More of them, have a section for them. I would have loved to do the chip bag grow off but did not see it until it was to late.

Maybe add a bulk alert function we have one with a reef forum I belong to. When they start competitions a all member alert goes out. Also if you ask for help with no response after a certain amount of time It sends out a member needs help alert when you post in the infirmary section. It is very frustrating to post something and not get any kind of response especially if its urgent to you.

All in all I hate to complain but I believe that's why you opened the door so It is my duty to do so. You guys are super and If nothing was to change I wouldn't be going anywhere.
