Saints or no saints, being called an ass hat, carrying a stink around and having a piss poor influence right off the bat is either due some very poorly cured buds or being completely unsuitable as a mod.........

I don't know the circumstances behind that situation but I have always been one to work those things out in a PM and if I couldn't get them worked out there then go higher. I can tell you, I have worked here as a mod and as a member and I have seen some mods just their asses handed to them for the way they handled things in the open forum. So, suffice to say that if someone is treated unfairly, you may not see it on the forum but it is handled swiftly behind closed doors. Not taking up for anyone, or discounting your position either. Just stating my experiences with what I have seen.

I love the vibe here too bro I'm not disputing that Im trying to find out why we are down so many new members and guests on line, am I the only one that's worried about this? maybe I care about AFN and its future to much lol.

Ummm ... let me put a huge caveat on what I am about to post ...

OK ... now that we've established that, I will offer my useless opinion based on my low sample size experience.

One of the 'barriers' I found to AFN, before becoming obsessed and addicted to the far superior atmosphere, is that many of the links that bring you to AFN, are dead, due to the database changeover. [is that correct?]

For example, go to many of the Dutch Passion pages, click on a hyperlink to one of the grow diaries, and you get the ol' 404 message, ot whatever it is. Now that's just Dutch Passion. Imagine the dozens of others with the same issue. Those hyperlinks and search engine results are the lifeblood of any website, and a very high number of them simply don't work.

TaNg - for example - even some of the hyperlinks to your journals on Dutch Passion don't work.
That's a fucking travesty, and tantamount to the high crime of treason!

Seymour Buds ... another guru status grower who we can all learn from ... many of his journals also not functioning from the links found on websites and search engines.

So, for a newbie, or potential new members, many of the resources that would bring him/her here, don't.
And with tolerance to broken links being two-fifths of fuck all ... they're not going to spend time, thinking of and then finding an alternative way of using a broken link; they'll simply click on the next search result, which will take them to another forum/site, not because of the quality of information or the superior atmosphere, but because the link worked.

Could that be a factor?
It nearly was for me ... but then again, I'm just an annoying, stubborn ass hat, with too much time on my hands.

Or am I just blowing hot air out of my considerably sized backside?

I am well cured, especially according SoH up there with his "elderly" comment, lol, but ate up with bud rot my friend.

well one thing as far as visits and/or members..you've mentioned it a few times.videos in structure as best as ya can and show people your grow styles.most younger ppl tend to serch for vids FOR that reason so they can SEE stuff too.it also connects them to you more..they like ya or not..either way the followings would sort themselves out quite quickly if general rules are followed ofcourse.similar to the tube except professional advise unlike the tube and the million vids ya gotta sift through and hope it works for you LOL! and able to access simple reads to verify said info on the tube,is where imho many of them went.after the site change of course.

instruction in a different format from the experts in tandem with pics and forum posts would imho increase that a lot if many did that but as was said by brother andy, we generally dont embrace change or are willing to shift gears as it were.i think ya need to play catch up is all.i think that would sort itself out..well...my opinion at any rate.cuz i know watching and KNOWING full on without fail if style is great and it works i want to watch a step by step video to listen and watch verses typing all the time and waiting for said standard answer which we all know is quite tedious to constantly repeat oneself..well imo that is lol.but i thought id take a minute and lend my opinion and with a few others that left i think we could have and still can easily recover from that since there is tons of info and a solid knowledge base to pull from here.well i guess i shouldnt have burned before typing ,derrrr all baked..ok i think ya'll get what Im saying or the bulk of it..okie doke..L8r!

oh and a PS to the grammar nazi ppl's...too bad mang!!LOL! sorry LOL!! i juuust dont care to care..if ya know what 99% of what ppl are saying does it really matter?well i guess it does to you guys/Gals..but to some or even many..it juuust dont.
