Indoor Air pots - worth it? And what size for a small grow?

I would think it would. I have thought about doing this myself the top drip is key imo

When i was a kid my uncle would grow in a top drip system and it had like half gal pots that the plants grew in on top of the rez and the roots would grow into the rez all the time just treat it like a top drip/DWC

Edit: I would use expanded clay in say 2 inches of the bottoms of the air pots and rest perlite with the holes in the air pot you might get dry roots in spots even with a top drip if your only using expanded clay not to mention the light getting to the roots through the holes that dirt normally blocks out

I took a large drill bit to my 4 and 5 gallon buckets and left a few without. Complete night and day difference in how fast the pots dry out between those with holes and those without. Are they as good as air pots? :dunno:I have never grown in air pots so I have no idea.

But in my opinion from actually trying it myself and observing the difference between them, I think there are definitely gains to drilling holes in them versus leaving them. If you're broke but own a drill and don't plan on having a need to hold water in various gallon amounts, drill away brother!

Yeah I am sure that a pot with holes in it will dry out faster but I am just as sure that it will not air prune the roots and make any different for root growth and that is just what an air pot does.

Anyone talking about top drip / feed in small containers.
All my grows on this site is with 0.8 gal - 1,3 gal containers.. not airpots tho.

Anything is possible peeps... results will very.. go fo it..

I. Have been using 6 litre air pots in my 75*75*200 tent. If anything I was thinking of going smaller. Had plants growing about 100 cm which is about the limit of my tent when you take car bon filter, lights and height of pots into account. Also at height of growth am feeding every ,3 days. Personally prefer to have several autos at dif stages in tent rather than one big one.

Hmmm, this makes me even more unsure whether to go with one big pot or two small, if you're reaching that height in 6L I'm a bit worried one plant in a 15L is going to outgrow my tent.

Thats exactly what I always worry about. Have only grown Dutch passion and joint doctor. With the 6 litre pots the heights have been roughly the height the height stated on their websites. All took longer than stated to finish. Have read that if I used smaller pot that plant will get rootbound and stop growing and finish earlyer but have not tried this yet.

Forgot to mention. I think a 6 litre air pot is supposed to be the equivalent of a 10 litre normal pot. You will also need to water over a bucket very slowly as until its packed with root the water will pour out the sides. I put cley pebbles in the bottom to stop the soil coming out and pack the soil tight.

If you LST (low stress train) your auto your space will be plenty for a auto in 15lt pot or you could do a bit of super cropping or both. If you do a photo strain then size is never really a problem as you can manipulate the plant to how you see fit but that mean longer grows since autos are a quick as they get all depends on what type of growing style you're after you'll find the right way fo yourself soon
