Indoor AKR and Pineapple Express - Cheap git test

thanks Kudo; healthiest looking plants out of all my grows so far.

I do have a question/worry I would like to open up to all;

Basically my grow box is 2ft(w) * 2ft(d) with about 3ft grow height, I usually just grow one plant, but this time I decided to grow two different strains and put them in really small pots (6 liters - although they took 8 liters of soil). However since they are the healthiest, they are also the biggest at this stage of growing... so my questions are;

Will they get much bigger in this size pot? I assumed they would be root bound fairly quick.
Both plants are about 1.5 ft wide in places - can they mingle without issue as well as squash up against the side of the box, or should I be pruning or tying them thinner? I normally prune leaves that block light to bud sites anyway, and thought tying would just be a temporary thing anyway.

many thanks for any replies - and this is a nice problem to have :)

week 5 pictures.

still immense growth since last pics I posted.

Had a bit of stress with (high) temps - the soil dried out a bit fast. As a result looks like the AKR has some nute burn (I assume through nutes being more concentrated) and the Pineapple express just a bit of curling in a few leaves at the top.

Combined they now take up the entirety of the width and depth of the grow box, and I only have about 10" of height left in the box.

I gave them less N and more PK at the last feed to try and stop the vertical growth, and have ordered a Red 125w CFL which I will pick up early next week.

Looks like, I will need to tie down at least the main branches on both plants, should give me another 6" or so height back; cant believe I am less than half way through the grow.

The pineapple express is flowering proper now, the AKR still in pre-flower mode - this may present a problem with harvesting since I dry in the grow box...

very good bro they look great +rep

thanks guys, appreciate your feedback.

New update; decided to LST the main branches on both. They were growing around 1-2 inches a day, and since I only had around 10" grow room left it made sense.

So I now have around 1-2 ft of height left, and a nice mattress of green :)

hi all, another update.

after my issues with heat and the LST'ing, I have a 2ft by 2ft almost level canopy parts of which were not getting much light. Now I could of upgraded to an HPS and raised the lights up, but I am a cheap bastard and want to use the lights I have as well as not having a great deal of vertical height that I can raise it into.

So after much consideration I have done away with the light hood and put in my 250 red CFL (was a 125w blue CFL) - hung it by garden wire, the wire touching the light is barely taking any weight as most of the weight is on the back end :)

On a few hours testing this has reduced the temperatures by about 2c whilst enabling me to get the light much closer to the tops of the plants and all tops now get some light. I fully appreciate that I am now wasting some light upwards, but hopefully this is compensated for the increase in wattage and lower height.

looking damn good mj mate! wouldn't worry about the plants growing into each other and touching the sides etc, it's not ideal we know but it's something those of us with confined space have to put up with! you should see my tent with 4 plants in, looks like a freaking jungle sometimes mate! Just think sea of green same concept lol! Is that wire touching the cfl safe mate? not likely to ignite or melt? i can't see what it's made of in the pic, just looking out for you bro! don't want anything to go up in smoke (unless it's in a joint or bong!) :peace:

welcome to my thread ska'd and thank you for your kind words.

The wire is 3.5mm thick garden wire - I tested it with a soldering iron and it didn't melt or really make a mark - my guess was that a CFL will not get anywhere near the heat of a soldering iron. Although I am paranoid as hell, and check it every day - so far no problems.

I havent posted any new pics lately because nothing is really happening; they have stopped their vigorous vertical growth and now just gradual more spread out growth. The pineapple express is really budding up properly now, but the AKR whilst is flowering lacks any buds; I can really see them being weeks difference between harvesting.

Any advice on drying in the same box as a growing plant? :)

They are looking awfully nice mjdregba! I wanna know how that pineapple express turns out I've been eyeing those for quite a while now and still haven't pulled the trigger! good luck the rest of the way through the grow! lookin damn good so far! :pop:

thanks eleven...

I decided on Pineapple express after my last trip to amsterdam, Barneys Pineapple Chunk turned out to be our favorite, and couldnt resist when I found they sold the autoflower hybrid.

The pineapple express is now looking real nice - started frosting on top, leaves are a deep green and the flowers cool white, fairly striking really. I will try and get some proper pics soon - just shy of getting her out of the box as the garage has a lot of insect floating around :)

The AKR is guzzling loads of water, found it to be dry whereas the Pineapple still pretty wet - so fed the AKR with plain water.

Also worked out a way to dry the pineapple express if it needs to be harvested before the AKR. Basically put in a false bottom (i.e. shelf) thereby separating the box in two - just need to ensure the inlets go through the drying area first, require a light trap and also ensure that I have enough height to do that.
