Extraction Alternatives to smoking, ideas please!

Guys just remember that you should decarboxylate your raw buds before eating them if you wish to get high. Actually, all cannabinoids contained within the trichomes does have an extra carboxyl ring attached to their chain. So it is actually THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid). THCA has a number of known benefits but it is not psychoactive.

Yet there is much more than THC that is psychoactive in cannabis: when I gently simmer leaf cuttings and eat them, I get high as heck all day. And I'm talking about leaf cuttings I take in the second or third week of flower, long before the trichomes have developed. But the terpenes are present and in full power mode.

That is very interesting. Did I understand it right that you are saying you are getting high with terpenes?

What else could it be? I gently simmered leaves from week two of flowering with a little coconut oil, and I was high as heck all day. I thought I was just eating some leafy greens, so no one was more suprised than me. I tasted, pepper, pungent and floral accents in the greens.

Apparently no one knows about this or has done research on it; I mean, I've read some articles that talk about the contribution of the terpenes, but no one I've read so far comes right out and says, THC isn't the only thing that gets us high. Certainly I've read that the different terpenes and ratios of cannabinoids account for different kinds of high, but I am still searching for information on the phenomenon I experienced.

I re-tried the experiment on a couple of my (willing guinea pig) friends, and in 45 minutes, they both felt fantastic: her menstrual cramps were gone, his leg pains were gone, they were both giggly and happy. What we don't understand about this plant could fill Borges' infinite library...

Thanks for the info! I got to try this some time!

So I quit smoking about 3 or 4 years ago and I cnt enjoy my weed!
I'm looking for alternative ways to use my buds that iv just harvested. I don't know my dry weight yet as they are still drying. I haven't kept the sugar leaves either (I know my bad...).
So I'm looking for the different ways I could make something with my bud.
I don't want to loose the the aspect of my bud either.
So what information do u need from me??? If any.

Here's what I do when I can't stand waiting for dry/cure:
(1) Food dehydrator 105 F for about 10 hours
(2) Decarb @ 240 F for 40 min using a verifying oven thermometer
(3) Grind to fine powder in a coffee grinder
(4) At this point, decide what kind of edible you want
Some people add lecithin and oil, then cook awhile (220 F for 20 min, and 160 F for 4 hours both work well). The resulting unstrained oil (about twice as potent as strained) can be put into caps, or used in any recipe.
I prefer to just add dry decarbed herb to nutella, or into the oil of any box mix. $1 betty crocker triple berry muffins and brownies are my favorites, which I make using mini-muffin cups instead of full size.
Edibles lack the MJ specific flavors that smoking/vaping provides, but major strain effects do remain, including quality of high.
I can't tell much difference between these same day as harvest edibles and those made with properly dried/cured flower.

Terpenes won't get you high in normal circumstances, so it was almost certainly THC that did it.

Yours is an important post.
You seem to have proved that the plant is potent very early in its life.
This opens up new horizons, such as allowing trimmers to make use of trimmed stuff they'd normally toss.
My autos have some obvious stem trichomes when starting flower, and I bet the leaves have a few too.
I read in Mel Frank's book (I hope) that even beginning flowers are potent, so the same is probably true for leaves to some extent.

Vaping with a desktop unit is best IMHO.

That reminds me- a woman at our collective stirs a tablespoon of ABV into her yogurt at night. She says it works great.
Personally, I'd rather mix it into crunchy peanut-butter, but to be honest, never get around to using the ABV, so I throw it away.

You can grind bud, quickly fry it in a pat of butter, top it with whole milk and heat it it up, adding chai spices, tea, or (my favorite) coco.

I had trim from 8 strains, and it made for a wonderful salad. I was pain free and high all day!!

I think it had to be more than THC; not only were there no visible trichomes, but it would have had to be very green THC, and this was a mellow, happy, INTENSE high that lasted for a good 7 hours.
