I’ve got some leaf symptoms in my outdoor ladies that I’m not sure about. I’m thinking it’s bugs and some fungus, like leaf spot/septoria. I’m hoping to get some confirmation and some treatment recommendations. We’re finally drying out here but my plants went through a very unusual rain event with HUGE amounts of rain for 2.5 weeks. The temps are ranging from lows in the lower 70°’s and highs from 82°-87°. They’re various autoflowering strains ranging in age from 42-55 days old and are in 10 gallon grow bags with a mixture of amended FF soils. I’ve been feeding the FF Bloom Trio nutes but started feeding Mega Crop, Bud Explosion and Sweet Candy today. I’ve been occasionally treating with Serenade, spinosad soap and Neem oil throughout the grow.

The wet weather and the warming fall sunshine have brought out a SWARM of “army worms” (order: Lepidoptera) that are covering the property. It’s typical at this time of year but they’re awful and cause huge crop damage! When I saw the first one, 2 days ago, I started spraying BT. More on the plants today so I sprayed again. So, they’re certainly contributing to my issues; but they’re not the only problem. I have checked the leaves (both sides) with a loupe and I can’t find ANY bugs crawling but there are some (few) unmoving little things that look like microscopic grains of rice on the underside; and many of the fan leaves have these TINY white specks on the top side - not huge numbers or in patches but the ARE there.

I’m getting these little white/tan spots/specks, surrounded by a brown ring on the fan leaves as you can see in the picture below. In addition, there’s some patchy yellowing going on; but the yellowing is pretty much limited to some older fan leaves and a few down low to the ground and near the main stem. Finally, there’s some necrosis starting on these yellowing leaves. I’m thinking it’s Septoria/yellow spot fungus and either army worm bites or grasshopper bites? Treatment: a copper based fungicide drench and continue with Serenade spray and continue BT, Neem oil and spinosad soap for critters?

2 other plants have developed this strange pattern. They’re packing on the flower but I can’t figure out what’s causing this or what to do. It’s not everywhere but there’ll be 3 leaves here and two over there and another couple on another part of the plant. One of these girls is my oldest -55 days - and is really packing on the buds. I don’t think this is part of the natural progression of things. Any idea what’s causing this and what to treat it with??

Sorry that there’s some overlap with my previous thread on this topic. It’s increaded some and the yellowing is new

Looks like bugs. Check underside of leaves for bugs. The circle shaped necrotic spots are either insect or disease. If it's just a few leaves outdoors, don't worry too much. I'd spray NEEM oil if it was me. When your in flower though, gotta hold up a cardboard shield while you spray to keep it off buds. Not a big deal if it's just a handfull of leaves, but if it progresses farther than I would spray. Those microscopic grains of rice are totally eggs. Aside from NEEM, spinosad is a pretty handy poison to keep around.

Thanks for the reply, Rev! I’ve got Neem and Spinosad. But they can’t be applied to flower? I figured they’d be ok in early flower, just not in the last 2-3 weeks? I removed all the yellowing leaves yesterday. I wonder if I could get some parasitic insects to go after the bugs? It’s only 8 plants but they’re outside. Any experience with that approach?

Wish I was able to help out with diagnostics on whats going on but I'm still learning that side of things. Hope the Rev has helped you out and you make it till the end for harvest.

Especially NEEM, will nt hurt you if ingest or smoke it. I would be more likely not to spray spinosad on a bud though. It is not likely to fully come off in the rain. It will get trapped inside the bud structure. That's why I don't spray buds, I don't want to smoke the spray. If I do have to spray buds, I do a dunk bucket treatment at harvest to get as much out as possible. By the way, the dunk bucket is also good for getting rid of insect debris.

Oops. I sprayed some of both early on in flower. Shoot, these autos seem to spend 3/4 of their lives in flower. Lol! Seems like it, anyway. I guess I’ll have to give them a good dunk when I harvest. Live and learn. I’m afraid if I hadn’t treated with anything I wouldn’t have anything to harvest! Everything seems ok with the plants now.

I got this stuff called PyGanic because a Jose Cervantes video I saw with the VP of the Oregon Sungrown Growers Guild and that guy said that Pyrethrum is unstable in UV light and that it breaks down within 48hrs and leaves zero residue behind. So, that seemed like a good product for bugs during flower. What do you think? Here’s the video:

If we get another rain, would it be a good idea to let them get rained on or, maybe, give them a shower with a sprinkler early in the morning when it’s going to be sunny and dry? Temps are 78°-87°F right now.
