If your tap water is 300+ppm you probably don't need to be adding calmag, especially in soil. @Mañ'O'Green has a write up about nutrient stuff on here I'll grab the link.

Suki is correct. Most people really overdo the calmag. I usally water some into my coco before I put my seed in. And then maybe a little at the 1-2 week mark. After that, I maybe use it once every couple of weeks at most in small amounts like 1/2 the dose - and I may not even need that. Most actual soils have plenty of calcium. Not sure how the "needs more calmag" thing started in canna? I see it a lot with tomato growers when they have blossom end rot, they just start dumping calmag (or the equivalent) when they're really overwatering.
