So my plant has a fungus gnat problem! I've head this can do some hange to my lil guy? I've placed a sticky thing in there with potatoes to catch the adults but is there anything else's I can do to kill them without killing my plant? Any kind of something I could put in the soil to rid of them? Thanks.

buy mosquito dunks and mix a little in your water and water with that for a couple of waterings. Problem solved. Everyone who has tried them has loved them.

I am having good results with this. Had three waterings with it, and they are all gone now.

However, the mosquito dunks work as well, but I think it is the same bacteria in them. I found this on Amazon for cheaper, and it dissolves in water. The dunks use an oil that spreads on top of the water, it really doesn't mix well.

I don't begrudge the dunks, as I have used them with success.

And where might I find these dunks? Someone told me to try peroxide. Is this method better? Thanks bud.

Don't use the peroxide. You can get dunks at your local garden center/wal mart/ supermarket. Make sure to use dechlorinated water so the bacteria don't get killed. I use rain water or buy a jug of distilled water from the store. Don't worry, the bacteria can't do anything to you or your plant, just the bugs.

Keep in mind it doesn't work right away, so don't freak if you still have gnats flying around for a week or so. You can give them a double whammy by using a neem oil spray on the plant and the dunk water in the root zone.

Thanks mr piggy! Question though! I'm at m local Walmart right now and I see a 6 pack.. Do I use all of them at once? Or just one for one gallon of water and begin using it till I run out? Thanks so much!

Crush 1/4 of one into a gallon of water, mix well (for the dunks)

I just crumble a thumbnail sized chunk into a gallon, shake well and let it sit for 24-48 hours. Then I make sure and soak all the root zones through with it. A six pack last me two years or so.

A side note, I just got gnats for the first time in two years I got a blue dream clone that I put in the cab when I was hungover and not thinking clearly. Luckily the thrips on it haven't spread and I've started everything on a neem and BT schedule just to make damn sure. I also quarantined the plant on it's own in another room. We don't tolerate ANY pest at the pig pen.

Thin layer of sand on top of the soil will also work. I generally use sand and the dunks and the sticky traps. Lol it can take a week or 3 to fully get rid of them.
