So new to growing followed a lot of guide lines. I bought this, http://www.amazon.com/AcuRite-00613...ie=UTF8&qid=1401224495&sr=8-1&keywords=humidy

For fear of mold during flowering, I bought this, Frigidair dehumidifier.

So I put both in the tent sealed it up for past 24 hours. Set it to 45%. Open the tent, the big machine tells me its at 45%. Little one tells me its 60%.

I mean I will trust the bigger machine since it costs a lot more.. Just wondering if theres a 3rd way I can check to really be sure. Don't really like when I get mixed numbers heh.

I have that same meter and i have found that it can give off some incorrect numbers. Other times it can be spot on. You never know if it is telling you the real readings or not but it lies to me quite often. I have noticed that its readings can change depending on where and how it is placed. I plan on getting a higher quality meter soon. I would trust your dehumidifier over that thing any day.

Inexpensive electric hygrometers tend to either work terribly or start off well and then degrade rapidly over time. I've found that after going through at least a dozen or so different electric and analog ones for my other hobby (which would require humidity levels to be between 90 and 99%), analog hygrometers work best. Even the cheaper ones I've found work better than $20 electric ones. If you can, try and spring for a Fischer brand hygrometer. They usually start at around $30.

I have two of those. As far as I can tell they can't be calibrated. But, you can do the salt-calibration method (<<link) and simply affix a piece of label/tape to the front of the device saying it's +/- n%. Just get in the habit of mentally adding or subtracting n%.

I want to take one apart and see if there is an adjustment inside. Those Caliber IV hygrometers for slipping inside your Mason jars has a +/- calibration feature. Seems there'd be something inside the AcuRite.

yeah I bought one of those too.I get different readings on all my electronic Hygrometers.I bought an analog dial one for temps and RH,bout 20 bucks at Lowes.takes longer but I always find it in the middle of all my others.so I tend to trust that one.LOL!has done me right so far."AFN smoke out"

Thanks wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy lol. I'll trust the big guy :P It finally matched up then went fubar again so meh. Temp seems to be right with it so heh.
