Lighting Anyone got any pictures of autocob light stress in action?

One thing I noticed with LEDs is that when I run out of vertical space in my tiny grow area and the plants are up in the lights I get a lot of fox tailing and put of control bud growth.

It will fool you into thinking your not done because all of the new white hairs on top are hiding the mature buds underneath.

I actually had my biggest plant which was off to the side foxtail. It wasn’t getting much light at all. Foxtailing for me has always started early and every time it happens I hope it thickens up but I end up nearly tossing the whole plant. From my reading it’s genetics. Worst thing ever and I wish these breeders would get rid of them ASAP. Such a waste of electricity, soil, nutrients and time.

I hate when they foxtail. Seems more so to happen to Sativas too.
Other than appearance and indicative of some stress, what is wrong with foxtailing? In my limited experience, foxtailed parts of buds are just as good, vape the same, as the rest and the same as non-affected buds.

If foxtailing results in higher yields (with comparable quality buds), maybe we should try to induce it in late bloom?

Bit of a newbie here, I had been growing under a mars2 400, I got a 3500k 55 watt off the cobshop but should have done more reading here first! I put it directly above the plant, about a foot maybe less, now I know best to have it to the side and then rotate the plant every few days. I hadn’t realised how powerful it was thinking it was only 55watt I could place it same distance as my mars was right above it , but think it caused slight fox-tailing?
Sorry not sure why it’s come out side ways.

Or is this just how some bud grows? Got the mars hanging down sideways for now so excuse the funny Light colour. Any way I’m well chuffed being a newbie she’s only in a small 8.5L pot, and got off to a bad slow start due to cold cold temperatures.

I find it more so due to things like genetics and heat. Too much light might cause it but I’m not in the too much light boat I like to keep my electric low as possible.

I have been trying to figure this out for a long time and I’m really leaning more towards genetics myself. I have hammered plants with light and got it, I have also given plants very little light and got it. My temps never change, fans are always on. It’s just a terrible thing.

Most of the foxtailed buds or plants I have had never fully produced buds. I recently chopped some buds that were 3-4oz wet, massive things that were hard as a rock. Next to it the same sized bud that weighed 1oz wet. When dried there wasn’t anything there. This is also on the top buds too, the lower stuff is even worse. It does work the same as you mentioned. But it can’t go to any of my patients. They wouldn't want it even if it was free.
