Lighting Anyone know these, 600w UFO?

an interesting UFO...largest I've seen and with 5W BridgeLux units.
It could possibly be a very nice choice, but alas, never heard of them
so IDK if they can be trusted. I wonder what the actual watt draw is....

Prob. around 350W-360W, I'm guessing.

It certainly seems worth looking into further. :)

Well they claim it runs 236W+-3%
But it seems low to me.

I also can't read anything about IR diodes, don't most LED's have IR's ?

Ahhh...now I see it. No, that could be accurate. They under drive to improve longevity.

RE: IR-IDK :)

I know that LED's use less than they are called, but it just seems very low to me, compared to other LED's.
But then again im not that much into LED's so i dont know what kind of magic they can do with them :)

I was just comparing to lets say the Vipar 600w 3w LED.. They claim it uses 345.9W+-3%

No not all leds have IR or UV. IR shapes plants it keeps them from stretching basicly shortens nodes spacing. UVB and only UVB promotes higher tri covages because that's what the plant produces resin glands to protected its self from the sun high UVB output.

Most probably they run LEDs at lower power, check other 5 w products for comparition of ratio. Maybe they can not pull more out of 5W?

Strong lights are not very handy, you had better go with two smaller.

I have never seen THIS light, but it is easy to make some conclusions:

It is very cheap light, engineered long ago. They had put some white LEDs recently, like everybody else, IR is most probably too expencive, but definitely beneficial. Origin of diods is questionable, drivers and fans are cheap and loud, prone to failure. Every single diod has its own lens, very poor in quality, I had tested some of these lights some time ago and had sold them quickly. They spread too much light around and offer poor penetration.

That all does not mean you would not use this light succesfully if you buy it. But it is not worth more then they sell it for.

My first impression of it was also cheap.. I've never seen this one before so i thought i might as well ask around, maybe one could be pleasantly surprised.
Im not looking to buy anything right now, just wanted to check it out :)

Thank you all for your replies.

If want to used a 600w Led your going to want to get a panel I would not trust a ufo design for that high of output that also maybe why the actuall wattage is so low. You look at the panels actual wattage will be at least 50% of what they adverstise that ufo isn't even 50% of 600w. I'd tell you if you want something in the same price range but more efficient get two 300w lights panels from mars or vipar
Leds. You get 360w and the ability to adjust your light according to multiple sized plants:thumbs:

Ufo work best 75-180w anything over that is overkill for the design and won't work as well as a panel at the same wattage.:Sharing One:

How's my Chinese UFO for actual draw vs. watt rating - 50x3W yet only 30W draw? :hump:

The seller refuses to sell me a proper driver because "it would only damage the light". :dunno:
I've been looking into constant current drivers but I don't want to risk not having even the 30W because I don't know much about them...
