all my new plants 3weeks to 6 are so squat.just stacking nodes on top of each other so close.little stretch if any......under cfl I had cmas trees now I got little balls of leaves.....pick up big fans and there are tiny little branches popping out.....is this maybe a sign my led is to close.I have it 18" away from em.....changed from 50/50 soil/cocco to 70/30....also switched nutes to bush doctor root drench n something else microbial shish seemed to burnem too.....but were squat first

What LED you have and hown much power it blasts? 18" might be bit too close if its a monster LED.

no monster 150w mars reflex 48*5w.n some cfls 6 42w.moved it up to 26"....actually two plants that started to flower stretchd a little so hope is there.... guess I'll have to keep experimenting with heights....

I bet 5w diodes will provide intense light so maybe 18" was a bit too close for veggies but I bet in flowering that would really push good yields. I have my MS006 (180w) about the same distance and I like what I see. I just hate all streched out plants and rather have my plants short and compact than out of control everywhere pushing stem and no bud.

I bet it takes couple grows to dial in every new light setup anyway so I wish you all the best!

I'm having exactly the same results. 300W Galaxy. It was at about 10", now is at 14" or so. This is my first go with LEDs and my first in several years with autos.

Is this a bad thing? With other types of lights I've always tried to maximize light short of burning and welcomed short internodes. Will she go into stretch as she starts flowering cycle?

Depends on your growing strategy what is good and bad for you. Tall plant doesnt equal higher yield automaticly. Most definately she will strech some on flowering! @marimar has lights close on veg on some of his grows to stunt the plant from growing taller, combining with LST. Check this one out; need I say more?

Thanks MedGrower. Because of limited indoor space I've generally been happier with shorter plants or with SCROG. Her shortness isn't really a matter of concern, just curiosity. Two unfamiliar variables, autoflower and LED, so I'm interested in what contributes to the short internodes.

In a while I'll pop some photo beans with pretty well established growth habit. Making a mum for next year's outdoor grow. I'm hoping that they will follow this growth pattern.

Yeah bro, I've had too many tall sativa doms that have been over 2 meter tall and a nightmare to manage. Thats why I nowadays prefer to do everything to try to keep my plants short on vegetative. So I am totally with you on that. 300w is a lot of LED powa so carefull not to burn your plants!

OK so now that my plants are flowering they are stretching.I was real worried....I didn't want bud sticks....a lot of bud sites too...hopeing all is starting to click.kinda glad now too cause maybe I can fit more plants in my space if there not gonna grow all tall n lanky.thought a bush wouldn't produce as much as a tree but seeing all these great grows got my patience extended a bit
