Hey guys..wasnt sure where to post this as I'm not really a new grower but it seems like a rookie type question soo here I it is.. feel free to move it if needed. Anyway I'm thinking about trying some LST on my Candy Cane lady and was wondering if it is too early yet? And also would appreciate any tips, tricks or suggestions!?
Cheers

Hey, JT! I generally wait to start tying off until the main stem just starts to harden up, particularly if I'm trying to bend it from the top. I know there are folks who will tie the main stem to one side of the pot and then bend up higher in the opposite direction. I tried it once... snap!....
What I do is to get a sense of how the side nodes are going to grow out, and then tie them out mid-stem so that the bud sites get better penetration. The most I've ever tied out were 6 side stems. I am certain doing it increased my yield by 20-30%! And, I use pipe cleaners-cut into short lengths (1.5-2") -and make a loop around the stem, then tie the loop with nylon cord to a hole in the pot. Hope that helps, Brother :) I can't remember if it was here on AFN, but there is a thread that I saw of someone tying the entire main stem to a bamboo rod- pure horizontal- and every side node on the plant grew like a top cola- it was a lineup of tops across the entire plant. Must have doubled the yield, at least! some love, JT!

I've only really done it once before, but it seemed to work. I started at 14 days old if I remember correctly. I did exactly what waxi said. (the one he snapped lol) I had a support tie down on the bottom of the stem pulling in the opposite direction of the bend, and gently pulled her down. Took about 2 days just to be careful. I personally disagree with waiting until the stems harden more... In my mind, that means it could snap more easily. (no offense wax, just personal opinion) just go slow and easy. Girls dig that shit.

Do it young and slow.
not to early at this point,,,,,BUT do it slow or you will stunt her. Check out Hazy.he has the corner on this.

Oooh, those buds are purdy!

Someone mentioned to me that the stems are easier to bend when the plant hasn't been watered for a few days, and I actually agree. After hearing that, I noticed that when I bend a branch under the screen a day after feeding, she was much stiffer than when I bent before watering. Hope that helps a bit

Thanks everyone....I will def take all your advice into account going forward! I think I may give it a shot over the weekend.
Cheers
