Live Stoner Chat AUTO LIGHTING SCHEDULES: I Gotta Ask.

Being able to have control of temp. Par ,,all that jazz the light. Humidity control it would be nice to do it 12X indvidual environment but I think it could be split to four zonal environmental controls but keep x12 lighting k and intensity ,,

I need to be able to do it with what's available in poundland and screw fix. , what's wrong driver less led they come with plug on and can pick colour and wattages ,, *

Driverless and dimming, thereby controlling the wattage, do not mix, it's "on or off" so you would end up using multiple lower wattage driverless cobs that could be turned on or off individually to get the control you need in each individual zone.

It would work, but then you're looking at extra costs on heatsinks, support frames, etc, which could end up costing more than you think.

To add to the above, there are driverless cobs which claim to be dimmable, but then, even IF they are, you have the fun of "which dimmer". Starting with the two main types, leading edge and trailing edge, you then have to look at the characteristics of each actual dimmer and the needs of the COB. Now, never mind the El Cheapo driverless cobs from China, I know for a fact that even a major manufacturer such as Phillips has, as an example, GU10 led spots which are only dimmable when using SPECIFIC makes of dimmer as the way the dimmer works has the effect on the circuitry.

So if you can't just shove any old dimmer onto a well known brand, what hope do you have for a "no-name" version?

That's the biggest reason I say "No" to driverless if you want to control wattage via dimming, I've seen far too many issues over the years where people bark at the moon because they don't realise that you cannot just replace an incandescent with LED and expect things to work as before, and getting a dimmer that works properly with dodgy electronics could also end up costing more than using a dimmable driver and non-driverless cobs.

You want to ensure you have the control, you have to spend the money.

Whats all this talk about "cobs"?

cob cob cob.
That's all I hear around here.

Butt did you know back in the days when folks built houses of sod
those same folks wiped their asses with cobs?

And now-a-days you youngsters are growing marijuana with them.
That's one versatile, miraculous, delicious fruit.

Unless of course you wiped your ass with it.
Please pass the potatoes. I'll pass on the cobs.

And speaking of:

Back in junior high my coach handed me a football and asked me how far I could pass it.
I said "Gosh Coach, I don't even know if I can swallow it."

Now you're getting confused about cobs and "corn lights"

I run 3500k Cobs LED how far from my plants should I be keeping them. I know it's different for Veg time and flowering time.
