i am about to start a grow with dutch passion-think different strain. my medium will be sunshine#4 mix w/extra perlite. i will be using general organics-bio line(go box) for nutes. i was wondering how to go about watering as i am starting them in 3 gal. pots. should i fully saturate the pots? seems like that would keep the medium wet for like a week or two and cause over-watering and root rot. or give a little bit water more often? they will be small plants in large pots and i def. don't want to over-water them. also, when should i start giving them nutes? and at what strength?? i was thinking no nutes for the first two weeks, then starting nutes at 1/4 strength. i normally start nutes at 1/2 strength, but i heard that autos don't like the nutes too much, so i figured half it again. any info will be greatly appreciated.:D

Hey poops. Welcome to the AFN. You should love it here.

Awesome strain you have there. If you are wanting to plant your germinated seed directly into your 3 gallon container that's fine, but there are some things to consider. It's a good idea to know your mediums ph before you plant anything into it. Sunshine mix is considered semi-soiless and does good with its ph around 6.2-6.5. With a pot that big you won't be able to check runoff for weeks because there will be none, as you can't water a seedling enough to obtain runoff.

So, I recommend testing your ph first. You can start in a smaller cups with the medium and transplant later. To me, this makes them so much easier to handle and take care of until they are big enough to have a bigger home.

You can also test that soil with a good soil tester or by running some ph water through a smaller container of the Sunshine mix and testing the runoff, making sure you're in range.

Those are good nutes, and that's what I use. I have heard a lot of good things about the GO lineup. As far as when to first feed and doses you're correct. At about 12-14 days you can start light doses and keep a close watch for nute burn.

it sounds like you know your stuff. thank you, sir. for the welcome and the info . now i can start my grow with no more concerns. i'm gonna take pics as they go along and if my noob grow skills pay off, i'll have a nice video one day.
