Hi everyone,

This is my 2nd grow and I chose the Strain Dutch Passion - Autoextreme...
This plant grows in size like crazy, I was wondering if it is worth doing the lolipop technique? My plant is currently 23 inches tall
Lolipop technique means cutting the lower branches/leafs off... Is this recommended for autoflower. Leave it or trim it?
I added some pics would like your feedback on this :)

Thanks

Everything I've ever read/heard has said you don't ever want to do damage to your plant on that level with an auto. With a photo you can do that during veg, give it a week+ to recover while on "pause" and then start the clock back up, with an auto your plant will be on pause, but the timer will keep on ticking.

So its better to leave them the way they are atm?

If you are in veg, don't touch it. But once u hit full flower if u decide to it won't hurt much. I've noticed with autos it can be bad if u remove part in veg, I have not had any problems doing it in flower mode. But if the plant is too big for u now go ahead it will stunt it a little bit but ull have the space if u need it.

Have you considered just doing an LST/SCROG to open up it up?

Im on the end of preflowering atm.
Whats SCROG? I know LST means low stress training but im not really sure how to do it properly. Any tips medi?

I'm an old gardener.

After the plant gets some leaves on it, the lower leaves don't
get a lot of light, and they tend to get dirty. So I trim them off,
one at a time, on watering day. My current plant is in flower,
and I had let it go, so I trimmed maybe a half dozen leaves the other day.
If anything, it grew faster, which makes sense because the plant isn't wasting
effort on leaves that don't get much light.

I don't grow fussy plants, so it could be there are some sensitive souls out there
that you should not trim. But damn, it's a weed, and I wish all of my plants were
as robust and resilient as pot.

SCROG stands for screen of green and there are a lot of great videos on how to do it, but the basic idea is that you "tuck" branches under a screen which activates growth hormone in the other colas, you keep doing this until you have a canopy with a single height. Here is a pic of what I'm talking about.

Obviously this one has been lollipopped as well, but you get the idea, it would maximize bud sight production without doing any real damage to the plant itself. You'll get significantly less popcorn buds.
