Problem: Yellow/rust spots on leafs/dropping leafs/veiny looking leafs

Medium/grow method: Plagron light mix

Feed: and supplements used: Sensi Bloom A&B 1.5ml per L

water source: Tap (pH 7.8). The pH of feeds once nutes have been added is 6.7. EC of feeds is 1.4. pH of run off is 7.5. pH of soil is 7.0.

Strain/age: Barneys NYC Diesel Auto, 26 days.

light used: Telos 0008 (80cm from canopy)

Climate: 24.0oC 45RH

Additional info:

Hey Guys,

I am growing 3 x Barneys NYC Diesel auto. None of the plants look particularly healthy! I ran out of calmag around day 16 and am waiting on more to arrive. I have been watering them every other day giving each plant around 1L.

As always your help is much appreciated.

Oh and tested the pH of soil with accurate 8

Thanks!

You need that calming to arrive, definite mg deficiency, also I think the Ph is a tad high but I grow hydro not sure so maybe wait for a 2nd opinion!

Looks like early stages of phosphorus deficiency, going by your run off ph its more likely a nutrient lockout, rather than a lack of nutrients in the soil.

Use some ph down in your feeds, to about 6.1 ish and test the runoff, this should bring you within the 6.2-6.8 range.

(You wont need to ph down so low after the soil ph has been corrected)

Id also advise lighter feedings for the next few waterings, when the ph in your soil is corrected all that locked out phosphorus will become suddenly available

Run-in/run-off method not that clear, better looking accurate 8, u can use citric acid lower ph of nutes and me would also reduce nutes...

:toke: hey Mangos, long time no see!

Mate i need a few more details: water EC (pH hints at being pretty hard); how did you take the in-pot pH?.... and just to be sure, has your pH meter been calibrated recently? Does that mix have lime in it? ...next time you get run-off, take the EC as well,.. r-o isn't a reliable measure of the pH in there though, at best a crude estimate...
....I ask all this because it's odd that you're getting run-off higher in pH than what's going in,... I can say that AN's capacity to buffer pH is rapidly taxed out by hard water, and really hard water can also start to drive in-pot pH up due to all the CaCO3 going in,...
Symptoms on lowers look like Mg defc., which can be induced by excess free Ca, but that's usually at rather extreme levels, not sure you're there yet if that's the problem at all,.... I see some tip clawing (N-tox') and mild nute burn at tips on new growth.. This is also odd given the light feeds? That's also why I need the EC/ppm's of your water, to account for how much of that 1.4EC is the water's baseline value....

Hey all, thanks your help.

My calmag arrived today along with some vitalink pH down. I gave the girls 1L each (measures per 1L):- Sensi Bloom A&B 1.5ml, Calmag 2ml. Added pH down and feeds went in at 6.1pH, run off was 6.7pH.

Hey @Waira, thanks for chipping in as always. In response to the questions:-

Water EC - 0.5

I took the in pot pH with accurate 8

Havent or know how to calibrate my pH pen :pighug:

No lime, this is from the Plagron site:-

Peat moss, perlite, worm castings
pH (H2O) 6 - 7
EC (mS/cm) 0,7 - 1,1
NPK fertiliser (12-14-24)

So grateful for you guys taking time out to help, respect! :d5:

:smoking:... it is a pH meter, right? What brand? If it has a bulb electrode at the base, then you need to get that unit calibrated; they are pretty sensitive instruments, needing proper storage solution, never allow to dry out,... calibration solutions are readily available, not expensive, 7.0 at least, 4.0 best for 2-point calibration,... it may be you're getting inaccurate readings which will make for a poop-show if we start tinkering based on bad info!
-- tap at 0.5 EC is pretty hard, about 250ppm equivalent,... Feeds are acidic, that's another reason I'm suspicious about the meter/pen,... no lime in this case is good,... What's the deal with those NPK#'s? No way that's the AN stuff,.... and it's why you got some N tox', too N rich unless diluted,....
-- good on the A8 unit, but the pH is too high, needs to come down to 6.5-6.2 range, so you may need to change water sources and/or start adjusting the pH of inputs,... cutting the tap 50/50 with any low ppm water would be fine,...
