New Grower Bay Area Backyard Grow Take TWO :D

That quip about no one having sex on your deck that you know of reminded me of "The Other Guys" and the soup kitchen bit - wherein a gaggle of homeless folk break into vehicles for an orgy. I pray you find yourself spared that atrocity :roflcry:

missed the start of your grow, all caught up and subbed, looking great so far

Welcome, StormsEniGma - good to have you along! I'm subbed on your new thread, too... :D I have to admit I'm wanting to count the days on YOUR plants toooo, but I admire that you're going to watch them for doneness, which will be fun! Yellow cola leaves don't count days either, I'm sure...
:smokebuds:

Thanks Dude! LOL Gotta love that forum name! :D
Off to the races - yes! Looks like the drivers started their engines and have completed the pace laps - and the race is finally ON!

Sweet, Jeezydakid! You have warmer weather that we get here but you live right next door! :D Are you growing outside, by any chance?

And HEY waira!
Always glad to see ya! Thanks for your input on the nutes. I was looking at Superthrive and read it shouldn't be used during flowering because it encourages leaf growth in the buds, but that I really should have used it when I was transplanting the poor things! Sounds like a great product for little ones, tho, and I'll probably use some on my upcoming photo grow... :D

People have recommended Dolomite lime as a cal/mag supplement and I'm thinking of that over molasses just because I don't want to attract ANTS to my yard - they already come in the bathroom uninvited when it rains... :rofl:Does molasses bring ants to your yard? Ironically, our soil has a lot of clay, which is the reason I haven't had a cal/mg issue in the past, but i think the roots struggled a lot because it's SO compacted... Have you ever used Dolomite lime? (or anyone else?)

I guess I forgot to mention that they are all girls! I mean I would hope so because the seeds are feminized (lol) but ALL had calyxes at day 28, which are pre-flowers I think, and one of the hazes has pubes! I mean hairs! Anyway, they are teenage girls now, have mercy, but I'm not going to start the bloom nutes for at least 2 weeks or whenever the vertical growth slows as you said waira... Mama wants a nice large frame to build those flowers on! Aaawwww yeah!! :jump:

I'm happy to be a crystal ball for you waira, as long as my grow continues on well! It's fun having a grow-buddy, as we outdoor growers are a little scarce in here, and kind of local with similar weather is just an additional benefit! I'm hoping to have some Pineapple Express buddies, too - I'm subbed to 3 grows of them I think! LOL Popular strain this summer...

And LOL I think you misunderstand what I mean by "canopy..." Nobody's having sex on the deck (that I know of!! hahaha), the canopy is a portable shady spot on long legs. We can put it on the deck, the yard, take it to the park or whatever... I lived practically lived on the deck last summer - just LOVE the weather, but gotta have that shade! I don't photosynthesize! Haven't for eons! *snicker*

Thanks for stopping by all y'all! Hope everyone has a marvelous Thursday!

Not quite yet in the process of building a PVC greenhouse type deal, just for a little security.
Indoor at the moment.

Hi Sapphire  So it's looking like you've got an all-girl review, huh? Shweeeeet...! Just don't let your guard down yet though; if you saw calyxes, you should also see pistils, since they're part of the same set of sex organs,... (ahem) LOL! If not, or yet, keep a fish-eye on them, as hermies can pop up at this time, and early sex parts can look similar.... otherwise, Hazah! for all ladies,... One odd thing about feminized seeds,...the theory behind the genetics and all that is solid, but practical reality says don't count you proverbial chickens... I don't know the biological reason for how it happens, but no doubt, Mother Nature has a way of fighting back against aberrations in her system, particularly man-made ones! And hermies are part Ninja! There are stories here from all kinds of otherwise diligent and wary growers getting some illegit' children from outta nowhere! :yoinks: :face:
The molasses thing is not really about the Ca-Mg, that's just a bonus; it's the carbohydrate sugary goodness for the soil microbes (mycorrhizae especially) that work symbiotically with the plant, which benefits directly from the microbes getting a boost.... As for ants,... I haven't seen any issues here so far with that; it is a very dilute solution after all,... but ants are attracted to the nice warm moist soil regardless, so keep watching. There are lots of garden-safe products that can be used to keep them away, but not have to be applied to the plants themselves. Dolomite is great as both a nutritional suppl. and a pH buffer,... when it can be mixed into the soil! After the fact, it's not a good choice because it's not soluble in water and so is difficult to distribute evenly. So, molasses should be something you consider anyway, just because of the great results it gets, and the many growers here that use it, even over the spendy store bought carbo-supp's (molasses is often the main ingredient in those BTW). I'm curious, where did you read that Superthrive promotes leaf growth in buds, specifically? ...not that I disagree with not using it during flowering, barring some emergency.... I've not seen any info here about it's use during flowering (even as a soil drench), but I thought it's not a good idea because of the potential of producing off-flavors if it's still in the plant tissues....have you found any info here about it? Lord knows, it wouldn't be hard to miss in the sea of info here, huh!
:yoinks: :o :roflcry: Talk about a misunderstanding, luv..! The sex-on-the-deck I'm referring to is the plants! Although,.. depending on what your neighbors are like, it could either get them to put up that fence forthwith, or bust out a camera! LMAO! Oh, what you must think of me,....:twist:

Hello and happy day, fellow growers! :smokebuds:

Here are some day 33 pics, compared with the last ones - I can't believe the growth!

They look a little yellowish to me, but not dramatically so. I've been feeding with FF Grow Big & Big Bloom every other watering, but very dilute. Seems those nutes are lighter (as far as the NPK numbers) than others, probably because the soil is so hot... :hot: Anyway, I'm going to try feeding at full strength to see if the color improves. No sense in starving the girls, right? I guess I've just been afraid of the dreaded nute burn so I've always fed light.

Here are the 23 day old Auto AK & Sweet Tooth
4.28 AA & ST d23.jpg Of course I feel like they are slow to develop - what a huge difference between these 2 and the others - only 10 days apart... LOL Any day now they should pick up the pace... (tapping toe...)

waira - I'll pick up our discussion of nutes (which I am enjoying) in my next post... :D

Hope you are all enjoying your Sunday! It's perfect weather here in the bay area, and I'm camped out at my station on the deck! :smoke: Gonna take some pics of the other strains and be back to post them shortly...

Looking good bro. This is an exciting part of the grow where they develop quickly and noticably. Up your nute concentration over a few feedings so you dont overwhelm the girls. Best of luck Sapphire...:smokebuds:

:check: quick note: color looks okay Sapphire, maybe a bit light... some of this depends on the strain too; more nutes may not be the way to improve this though, first try a foliar Fe spray. GreenAll makes one of the best sup's around, available widely; it covers all the metal bases and then some- Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn, with a little 2-0-0 N boost as well. Also, it's very important to get a wetting agent (or water spreader) to mix in and make it spread and stick: max. surface area covered = max. uptake into plant, while it's still liquid!.. and fastest hands down....(might have talked about his earlier?) anyway, quiz me later if you want details.... :five: the girls are rockin'!! :smoke: catcha later....
