New Grower Bay Area Backyard Grow Take TWO :D

Hey Sapphire. Just read through your grow log here. LOOKIN good sister

It's nice being able to see you and waira's outdoor grow 'down south there', as your climate is much warmer there, thus you are ahead of me by at least 6 weeks.

I'm a couple of states north of you on the east side of state.
It is still waaaaaaay to cold for me to even think about putting my plants outdoors yet, not even in the daytime. Were still seeing below 30F at night.:(
Oh well, at least I have my babies doing well inside (so far anyway)

I was stationed in the SF Bay Area from 79-end of 80. Spent a lot of time in Berzerkly. :D I do miss all the great concerts down there. Got to see a lot of fantastic bands back in the day. To bad I can't remember most of them

Anyway, I have a seat pulled up now to watch your grow for the duration.
Sending growing Karma your way.

:peace: StickMan

:check: quick note: color looks okay Sapphire, maybe a bit light... some of this depends on the strain too; more nutes may not be the way to improve this though, first try a foliar Fe spray. GreenAll makes one of the best sup's around, available widely; it covers all the metal bases and then some- Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn, with a little 2-0-0 N boost as well. Also, it's very important to get a wetting agent (or water spreader) to mix in and make it spread and stick: max. surface area covered = max. uptake into plant, while it's still liquid!.. and fastest hands down....(might have talked about his earlier?) anyway, quiz me later if you want details.... :five: the girls are rockin'!! :smoke: catcha later....

Hey Waira :toke:

I opted to go with just feeding full strength FF Grow Big and Big Bloom - I think Big Bloom is a wetting agent, or has some of those properties?

I'm really trying to keep it simple without a lot of different products, although that may not be in the cards... LOL My husband's philosophy is "It's a f*cking WEED for cryin out loud!" so he's less enthusiastic about buying more "stuff," but if we need it I'll get it! ;) One of those FF nutes has instructions for foliar (sp?) feeding so I'll try that out and thanks ever so for the suggestion! :D

It's been a couple of days since I fed and they seem to be very happy so we'll see how it goes. I am so pleased with all the rapid growth!

:smokebuds:

I think I read you'll be posting an update on your grow soon, so I'll be lookin' out! :head:

Glad to have you along, StickMan! :D :smokebuds:

I have friends that live a couple states north of me! lol I'm trying to encourage them to get some autos going outside for the summer, as they are indoor growers year round. I like that you're keeping your plants inside until they can go out - maybe that's something I'll try as a way to "ease" into indoor growing. Are you using a full indoor set-up? I had friends suggest just hanging a light (i forget what kind) under my table and keep it simple that way to foster the babies before stickin' 'em outside... Would be nice to have a larger veg period before the sun changes - although that would be more for my regular medical grow... hmmmm

There is certainly a lot to do here in the Bay Area, although the "vibe" has changed somewhat since you were stationed here. Somehow tho, Berkeley stays the same! :dance2:It's nice being near the City and as I'm sure you remember, the weather is GREAT!

Speaking of great weather, we're having a hot spell this week... Better go out and check on the ladies before it gets too hot!

More pics soon!

I am LOVING our heat wave and so are my girls!

Here are pics from this morning, maybe day 36? LOL Around there for sure...

Order: Pineapple Express, Afghan Kush Ryder, Original Amnesia, Haze 2.0
4.30 PE.jpg4.30 AKR.jpg4.30 OA.jpg4.30 Haze2.0.jpg

I was noticing the stems on the Amnesia seem so nice and thick, then I saw that most of them are also... They aren't the biggest but I just LOVE the "style" of the Amnesias... lol Especially the smaller one. She just seems so, i don't know, I just like her! ;)

This grow has turned from feeling like they were stunted and comparing them to everyone else's grow (bad idea, fellow newbies!! LOL) to just appreciating how gorgeous and happy they are! I'm extra-stoked today, tho, because I had 12 photo sprouts in jiffy pots & light warrior and feared I had let them dry out too much and killed them all... Used superthrive one night and the next day and *10* popped up. Whew - and there's still hope for the last 2, although I have other seeds to replace them if they never surface.

OH - and I started a thread to make fun of a mutant PE... *snort!* Click HERE to check it out

Hope you all enjoy your Tuesday! Thanks for stopping by and reading :D

just a weed? well that statement would be true if all we were hoping on growing was stringy things with a few leaves, but we are after the flowers ;)
they do love foliar feeding, they absorb the feed more efficiently, distribute it quicker and you can do it every night while waiting for your soil to dry, best to do it at the end of the day as little droplets on the leaves magnify light/sun and can leave little burn marks

your babys are doing awesomely

Looks like your plants are agreeing with the Bay Area, Ca. sunshine...very nice..:smoke:

 Check out those hot sun-bathing beauties!! Mmmm, so lush, so shapely, :lick: LMAO! Sapphire, luv, are you just pulling our legs about being new to this?? :D The girls look like they couldn't be happier! That's some nice work there Mrs. S' :gthumb:

FF's nute' line is very good; I'm still using Tiger bloom and Big Bloom (Tiger bloom is a true bloom fert', with the numbers to back it up; from what I gather, Big bloom is more of a supplement- check out the N-P-K #'s it's very mild vs. Tiger) (LOL!) I know you don't want to spend a fortune on stuff, but you must have the right tools for the right job,... i.e., the Iron suppl. I mentioned- more fert's are unlikely to fix a deficiency strong enough to manifest symptoms, hence the 'suppl.' part,... and to get best results and your $$-worth, for any foliar spraying, and true water spreader is part of that equation,... They're relatively inexpensive, go a loooong way, and can be used on everything you're growing. Don't listen to the doubters (hubby), if they really were just a 'weed', especially auto's, then growing would be a no-skill-brainer, which we know from here and experience, is *bzzzzzt!* w-r-o-n-g! LMAO! Now, that said, the girls don't look yellow-ish to me, but it's hard to tell in pics sometimes,...You would know best from how they looked earlier,.... Oh yeah, Big bloom has a wetting agent in it, but isn't usable as such for mixing and spraying other stuff.... Superthrive! :hump: Love it... has saved sooo many orchids for us, and other things... Where did you hear about it promoting leaf growth during flowering (see prev. post)? ...that would be something important to know if accurate...
You're soo killin' me Sapphire! Photo grow yo-yo-yo! :hot: how I wish I could do that, at least on that scale,... I have 5 seeds from a photo strain called El Nino, which was excellent, and I'm sorely tempted, but I'm torn because it's a sativa (late finish), and I want to try other autos too, plus other,...factors...... :D Hey, I like that forked-tail devilette PE! That split is pretty unusual, but oh-so cool! It seems healthy enough otherwise, right? A true set of Siamese twins, huh!... I posted up finally, so swing by when you can! You go Girl!! :pimp:

Wow! Thanks for the positive feedback, y'all! :D

I do think they look pretty happy back there!

waira, I *promise* this is my first auto grow, tho this will be my 3rd photo grow, so maybe some of my canna-love is just rubbing off on the autos. Made me grin from ear to ear for you to doubt it (cheekily!) tho! :D

OK, I'm sold on the water spreader! It's used for both foliar feeling and in the bucket with nutes, right? I think so... But other than feeding with what I already have I think I'll hold off on anything else because they look pretty content and I don't want to rock the boat. OH - and molasses later on I think I'll do too... The thing about Superthrive promoting leaf growth during flower was a comment on a forum during a discussion of using it for veg only or if it could be continued into flower. I think he said it promoted leaf growth IN the bud, so it would make leafy, airy buds. I'm not clear if that was his experience or not, but others had concern about "woody" buds - lots of branches inside the flowers. I DO hate branchy buds! LOL Not sure if it's caused by Superthrive or not, but definitely some have way more than others in my experience. I think the general consensus was just use it in veg, it's mostly for saving seedlings and youngsters and finicky plants. Thanks for asking again, I meant to tell you about that! :cough:You probably have far more experience using it, I recon! ;)

My husband is a card, I'll tell ya... He might fuss a bit about all the fuss I'm giving the plants (haha) but he's happy to partake in the harvest! :bong:

waira, if you have spaces available grow some of that photoperiod sativa!! You'll definitely have enough time for another round of autos after these girls finish, I think, so just give a space or two to the photos :D Are you concerned about the late finish because of the weather? We get an Indian Summer here - heat waves in October and early November even, tho I've never harvested past mid-Oct. I think you should go for it - maybe even just one... hee hee But get that baby going NOW if you're going to do it.

Are you all ready for this? The last 2 photo sprouts surfaced late yesterday! I can't believe it either! :smokeit: *disclaimer* They don't necessarily look like they will make it, but I'm thrilled they made an appearance and obviously I'm hoping for the best...

Let's all medicate!
