Got home just a few minutes ago. Some how the power serge tripped while the lights and exhaust fan were O
. The lights go off at 12 Noon and come on at 6:00. PM. The timers shut down at 2:00 PM. Rather odd. 
I set the timers back to the right settings and the exhaust fan started, but the new one week old Hortilux BLUE didn't start.
I put in the replacement Hortilux BLUE that I bought (for just this type of emergency) and she started up fine.
Got the lamp at the "Hot Babe"
grow shop on the 28th of January. One year warranty from manufacturer.
Need to take it back to the store that i bought it. Gonna drive by and make sure the "Hot Babe" (full sleeve tattoo and all) is there and not some other "grow expert" (that hasn't a clue on growing autoflowers) 
at the shop.
Oh yeah...I did give the Kids their 1st taste of nutrients today. 2 teaspoons MEDI One, 1 Tablespoon Trinity, 1 teaspoon Photosynthesis Plus and 1/2 teaspoon of Pro TeKt (for heat stress and other good things). This will be my primary nutrient cycle.
Weird about the serge breaker going off without any power going to the cabinet.

I have an xtrasun 400W Dial-a-Watt ballast.
I've gone over their website and got really no info. Is this ballast compatible with MH lamps or just HPS? The new 400W only lasted a week. The extra 400W Hortilux BLUE started up fine. The serge going off when the cabinet was off and when restarted (lamp was cool) no MH lamp start. Go figure. 1000Bulbs says that the xtrasun 400W does handle MH and HPS lamps.
I replaced the on/off timer to a better one. That may of been an issue. I had two timers going. One timer for the exhaust and one for the MH lamp. Now they are both running off the same timer.

Not unusual for Hortilux bulbs to be defective. I spent a goodly portion of yesterday researching HPS 600w bulbs and the reviews on ALL OF THEM were sketchy at best. Most everyone has had prollems with all manufacturers. Was specifically looking at EyeHortilux and Sunmaster Super HPS deluxe. None are promising. I've had two bulbs POP when first installed.

That's the reason I bought two of the BLUEs'. The Eye Horilux BLUE MH from
Grow Shoppe stopped working. I bought the second lamp from a company that has 1000 in it's name. That's in there now and it's working. They're not as expensive as one might think. I had to buy new LED bulbs for my apartment. They cost more per wattage than the 400W. I also have the whole grow set up; Cool Tube with the lamp and exhaust on one timer instead of the lamp on one and the exhaust on another. From what I've read about ballasts is the most direct electrical route to the lamp the better. I also purchased the 400W Super HPS from with a replacement, if necessary from the company the has 1000 in it's name. This is my real first MH/HPS grow from start to finish. I cannot believe I got those GREAT grows on CFLs. The girls seem to love them as well. My real first organic grow too. The more I read about MICROBE Life the more I like it. Get a "Free" sample 
from their web site. Very fast shipping (not as fast as 1000 in it's name) got the "Free" sample with tons of reading material from MICROBE Life. Worth the "Free" sample plus $12.99 shipping.How many days old?
