New Grower BEGINNER GROW journal-tips. CANDY KUSH

Thanks man! Im going to check out your journal after this! I have steereed away (personally) from directly into the final pot from seed cus it takes much longer for seed to grow root system i feel like, so it delays it alot... you know? I could be wrong tho of course.

I think one of the general rules, though there are certainly those who don't follow it, is to plant straight into the final pot for autos. Since there is usually some stress related to transplanting and with autos abbreviated life span, it's best not to risk the recovery time.

This is probably a fairly debated subject though and ultimately comes down to your personal style or technique. Just passing along some of the 'golden rules' I've heard over and over again.

Very interesting about root growth and the smaller container, I had always thought photos and some autos were started in smaller pots so you didn't have to give up the space for a full pot before the plants showed sex, so with fems it shouldn't matter. Learn something everyday around here haha.

... Sounds like some funky peat, which can happen,... your methods are sound, mate, so chalk it up to crap luck!.... Candy Kush is a fine strain; the photo version is fierce shit! I see it often testing out in the 20's %THC!! :coffee break: ... try a hardware store for 3gal buckets; you might want to look into airpots or (fabric) smart pots too, they both have solid results behind them here! .. I tried smart pots this last grow, and had the best root development to date,... example: I got a oz of iron death nugg's off a late season F1 Fast Green Poison that wasn't topped, about 30" tall,.... Sweet Seeds is a must try bro'! -look them up here in the seeds forum; AFN is bristling with fantastic grows of many of their strains; the pics will nammys Horney for days,.... :roflcry: (hit the Sweet Creme's link in my signature area, right side, and check out some dry-porn if you like, for starters).... Keep rolling phat RKJ! :smoke:

....Twigg'- thanks for solid input bro'! Transplanting is all about timing and technique; the Sweet Seed company growers here do it regularly, but their method and timing is impeccable for minimizing trauma.... not easy to do at all! Other don't bother, nor need to in many cases,... my best results so far have come from tiering into larger pot with final soil in it; I cut out the bottoms of 4" plastic pots, inverted them, and filled with milder starter soil, then popped the early cracked seeds into the tops; it gives the tap root a few more crucial inches of vertical drop, which the plants seemed to enjoy!

Yeah I'm definatly a beginner but that's what we usually did with smaller paper cups so the roots can get a nice little start then just cut the cup along side after a water so it sticks together then just plop the little cutout into the final pots middle. Again autos may be completely different haha. Definatly sounds right with the stress and I agree with that why risk with the already short life span and sizing.

Thanks my man.. I am a beginner but i feel like I'm not COMPLETELY stupid haha. I bought cheep ebay peats the first time... Already ordered the "name brand" Jiffy ones with the little cover.

SO. Should I use cfl for the seedling or right to main tent under the metal halide??

...CFL is fine for starters, until they get a set or two of real leaves... seedling don't need that intense of light initially, but too weak makes them stretch to much, so strike a balance.... careful with the halides' heat and output at first too!... I have no real indoor experience, so look around more in the lighting forums or new growers forum for more details,... I can tell you long hours of light are critical to size and quality of bud! Outside, even at peak summer hours, many of my plants didn't turn out as well as a later round that got some supplemental indoor light at night...

That sounds good! I'll put them under the dome with two cfls on them and hope they live :). Should i get a dropper and just put some droops ontop of them after I put them in the peats to keep moist? Don't want to over water or dry them out

EVERYONE the beans are here and have begun the germination with paper towel method. Into jiffy peats in a few days. I'm going to make a separate grow journal thread in a few mins for these little guys so look out for it and try to follow along. I will need as many tips as possible :). Thank you everyone!
