I've used the Plugable USB scope under $40. There are a couple similar that are bluetooth connected so you don't have to deal with the wire that seem to work pretty good also. I also just use my cell camera to check trichs as I can take multiple pics and enlarge on screen.

Pocket scopes are cheap and do the job. Usb cams are generally better resolution. I use the Bodelin Proscope. I think it was around $100 back then. I also have two pocket scopes, a loupe and a second usb cam that I haven't used for a long time.
